Linux flavored Spark tablet struts its stuff on video
Expected to ship some time in May at a entry-level price of $265, the Spark tablet is essentially a re-branded Zenithink C71 tablet with Mer Linux running the show instead of Android. This is a open source version of MeeGo Linux with Plasma Source running on top. Everything about the tablet is open from the OS to the unlocked bootloader and open app and content markets.

The Spark tablet has a 7 inch WVGA screen with 1 GHz AMLogic ARM Cortex-A9 processor under the hood along with Mali 400 graphics. 512MB of RAM is aboard with 4GB of native memory. The tablet does have a microSD slot and a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

You can check out the UI as the tablet is taken for a quick test drive in the video below. The UI shown is not optimized for a 7 inch display, so by May you can expect sharper and clearer images and hopefully the lagging will also be cleared up.

Laggy for a 1GHz-equipped tablet.

Then start from tablets back in 2003. If the widgets and windows barely follow your finger, if the response time is anything less than 60fps, if the screen size is nearly the same as a cell phone (7" is a joke), if it cannot make a phone call, if it doesn't offer any differentiating qualities from any other tablet, if it has last years cell phone specs even though it's a tablet, then IT HAS FAILED [before it was even released].

Still better than the iPad.
