Thanks but no thanks, Microsoft. I have a small handful of free apps that let me view office files, and have purchased some reasonably priced productivity suites that let me edit them - no leechware subscription necessary.

I just can't wait until it comes out for Android, especially because of the Powerpoint software. I have yet to see a mobile app with full-fledged Powerpoint compatibility.

actually i dont know if the microsoft office is still a hit since there's actually a pretty good office apps that is available to both android and iOS (quick office and documents to go anyone?)
according to this
"Microsoft's Office has been a juggernaut. In fiscal 2012, the Microsoft business division did ~$24 billion in sales.
Last year, we cautioned, "Office runs only on Microsoft platforms and the Mac. As employees start to do more and more work from non-Windows smartphones and iPads, companies may start to question why they're still buying Office for every employee and upgrading it every two or three releases."
The death of Office, has not happened, though. Despite Google's attempt to create Docs, companies aren't giving up on Excel."
their only powerful stronghold is the excel..so they better bring MS Office to the relevant side again!! and bring th RT version of windows 8 to cheaper market! to let them experience the new Win8 UI! coz this is what google waht to bring, they are bringing the android tablet for cheaper market, the nexus 10!
nokia should join the tablet space now! coz the only worth to buy win8 RT is either the surface, asus or a nokia, if ever!

Some good points. I would like to say that the Office 365 thing makes sense to me though. No matter what, the iPad isn't going to be anyone's choice platform for spreadsheets. You want to be able to make edits but the online features in 365 will be good for people to work on stuff across platforms. Spreadsheets are just one of those things that benefit from screen real-estate. I've tried some touch screen spreadsheet stuff with Google Docs and it's just not there. Entering formulas is an absolute nightmare also. I don't even want to think about macros or editing graphs.
I don't know if powerpoint will be able to beat Keynote in any aspect but being fully compatible with someone who bought an iPad but still primarily works in a Microsoft environment but the viewer will be great for studying since professors have no idea technology progresses over time.

While all is phone will probably be able to use, half of android phones won't be able to because of too much lagging.

Microsoft Office is the APEX PREDATOR.
& apple also knows the fact.
