This isn't the first prepaid endeavor that Radioshack has made. Back in 2007 they launched an option called Trumpet Mobile. It flopped pretty bad.

Radioshack did have a large ownership of stock in that company though. So yes, in a way it was their company.

I cant imagine telling my friends I have Radio Shack Mobile LOL, but who knows having support in store is better then some MVNOS. But if it's just crickets network Im going to have to pass on that, almost rather have another Sprint MVNO.

Radio Shack seems to be grasping at straws. All they sell these days is overpriced electronics and cables/adapters for 10X the cost you can easilly find on ebay or amazon. I remember the days where you could go to RS and buy the components to actually build a radio. Now they're just a cut-rate Best Buy, and given the state of BB these days, that's not saying much.

radioshack was once the #1 company in the world for mark up if im not mistaken, they sell AA batteries for 5 bucks when it costs less than 10c to make.

Planterz you have no clue what you are talking about. When was the last time you stepped foot into a Radioshack?? First of all we still have all the components to build a radio or whatever else you want to build with the addition of Arduino components and boards. We are also the #1 retailer in wireless because we have the best phones on the market, the best carriers and the best prices (we also price match if we're not the best). We offer our own free support service so you don't have to deal with calling the carriers. We offer the 3 top carriers in the nation with Verizon, AT&T and Sprint and we transfer all your data content from your old phone to the new at no charge. Also yes you may find cables cheaper on amazon or ebay that's because you are buying crap product that hasn't been tested to see if it actually works or won't burn your house down, so be my guest and buy that $2 cable over ours. Also for a fact we are nothing like Best Buy, we were here before they were and we will be here once they fold, just wait and see.

To pats4thewin, check your facts every retail company in the world marks up product above what it cost to make, it's called profit. However our batteries have been proved to beat out energizer and duracell and you pay more for their batteries than ours.

This is irrelevant to the topic but the cable thing isn't really true, I bought one of the $2 HDMI cables off Amazon then bought one of the $100 Monster HDMI cables at Radioshack. Compared them both viewing Blu-ray on a 50" 1080p TV and there was literally absolutely no difference in picture quality between the two. Needless to say I returned the Monster cable and bought 3 more off Amazon and have been using them for 4 years now.

I'm know the Monster cables are manufactured with better materials and are guarenteed and everything but seriously not worth $100.

It really depends on the item and the quality. RadioShack often has memory cards, cell phones and GPS units cheaper than most retailers (of course not always).

Quality too can be a factor. I thought I got suckered into a gold auxiliary cable at RadioShack but after hearing it I was sold on it. The one from Wal Mart that was 1/3rd of the price sounded just awful in comparison.

Yeah, right. Radio Shack will be lucky to be around by spring of 2013. The company has no clue of what it is doing and its stock has dropped from $13+ a share to below $3 a share in the last year.I

As for having the greatest phones...nope....didn't have the Bionic, Razr, Razr Maxx, Skyrocket all when they were available everywhere.

Correction, they had both the Bionic and the Razr right away. Your are correct about the others though.

I wouldn't be so surprised to see Best Buy go under first. They're scrambling to become what RadioShack already is, not to mention RadioShack is sitting on a large pile of cash. They do need a sense of direction though. Too much of their store is outdated.

Don't get me wrong im not running out to invest in them! I pulled RadioShack stocks a while back.

Cricket can roam off of Sprint, so I'm wondering if this will too?
