Leaked photo from the HTC One's camera hits Flickr

0. phoneArena posted on 09 Feb 2013, 15:25

Just the other day,. it was discovered that the HTC M7 would be using what the Taiwan based firm wants to call Ultrapixels, which is the wrapping of three 4.3MP layers around a camera sensor which is expected to produce sharper pictures with more accurate color representation; now rumored to be called the HTC One, a picture allegedly taken with the device was found on Flickr...

It would be a nice camera right, But in Mobile World Congress, everyone would be busy for what will Nokia produce..

For the camera sector, No competition with the Pureview at all.

It still takes pictures that are good enough quality for anyone that doesn't thrive for maximum quality... Very few people buy a phone because the camera, if you want a good camera you get a camera not a phone.

I'm always in need for a great camera and I can't hold my camera wherever I go . So , the best thing is to have a great phone camera that enables you to have magnificent pictures the time you like.

I'm sorry, but it's really hard to take someone named "johnnokia" seriously when they're talking about Nokia vs. any competitor.

20. dexter_jdr posted on 10 Feb 2013, 04:23 2

even the so called "galaxy camera" produces lesser good quality photos than the galaxy s3. and the s3 is a phone that out performs the real camera.

so whats your point?

another blockhead with an old argument.."but a stand alone camcoder"...give me a brake.

One problem, the Exif data, it says "date taken: Feb 8" but then says "date posted to flickr: Feb 7." How is that possible?

Advanced camera

6. tyger11 posted on 09 Feb 2013, 16:06 6 1

Time difference between Asia and the west (Flickr) can easily account for that.

10. simplyj posted on 09 Feb 2013, 16:49 6 1

The camera is so good, it takes the pictures you want before you know you want them.

7. Feanor posted on 09 Feb 2013, 16:20 5

Does this mean that the pictures will be max. 4.3Mpx? Sorry, but in this case, no matter the pixel oversampling and the quality it brings, the final resolution will be a big handicap! Let's wait and see, because I cannot believe that HTC will make such obvious mistake...

12. simplyj posted on 09 Feb 2013, 18:41 3 1

How many pictures do you need that are over 1520 x 2688? The only reason people who need high resolution pictures are prophotographers and they wont be using a cell phone to take pictures..

16. Deaconclgi posted on 09 Feb 2013, 21:19 2 6

Speak for yourself.

I use all 12 million pixels on my N8 and when I get a Red 808, I'll be using all 38 million pixels with it. I can't wait to take a pic and zoom in on detail that I could not see with my own eyes.

And yes, I am a mobile photographer and I have used my phones for years, starting with the Nokia N82 and it's superb 5MP Carl Zeiss and Xenon combo. Don't think that just because you hear "cellphone" that the pictures aren't going to be good. You must have never used any of Nokia's imaging flagships.

18. simplyj posted on 09 Feb 2013, 22:43 4

I had an N8, it was good. Just because you have more pixels, it does not mean you will have a better quality picture.

You also forgot that on the 808, the pictures are downsampled to create a 5 megapixel picture.

27. jackhammeR posted on 12 Feb 2013, 05:52

more megapixel doesn't mean it will be better....but the 808 is an exception

21. bayusuputra posted on 10 Feb 2013, 08:29 1

soooooo, you take pictures using full 38MP just to be able to zoom in and see whether in one window of a building you can see a nekkid grandma and other details you can't see with your eyes?

Jeezz, yeah, that's photography..

I must have been living under the rock to still use my film rangefinder and focus more on composition than details my eyes can't see..

You, sir, open up my eyes to things I didn't see before about photography..

25. Feanor posted on 10 Feb 2013, 15:02

I think 4.3 Mpx is less than I even need to enjoy my pics on my TV... And apart from that... this is a huge marketing handicap. Anyway, let's see how the announcement of this technology will be because I cannot believe that HTC will come and say; "We take pride to our new flagship camera of 4.3Mpx". The will probably market it differently.

9. Birds posted on 09 Feb 2013, 16:46 6 2

My only gripe is that they went with 4.3 megapixels for each layer...HTC could have went with 6.4 mega pixel sensors (1890x3366 pixel photos), instead of 1520x2688. The jump in resolution is only 2.3 megapixels....For advertisement, they could claim the layered sensors is 19.1 megapixels.

Is there something I'm missing? I know the camera works by taking one image at the highest exposure, one at a balanced exposure and one at the darkest exposure, all at the same time, which ultimately eliminates the HDR thingy that has ghosting artifacts with photo samples of objects in motion.

So this is what htc are planning to fight Nokia with - a cameraphone that takes blurry pics and over-sharpens objects ??

Looks like someone hit up the good ole Google Translate and copy pasted everything from whatever language you came from.

22. bayusuputra posted on 10 Feb 2013, 08:55 1 1

but but but.. camera specs are not what make a good photograph..

Oh, wait, yeah.. you are just some Nokia fanboy who cares more about specs than actually taking good photographs.. I, too, am dying of laughter at Nokia, because for $600, the 808 Symbian is now resting in peace. And its 1/1.2" sensor size is very tiny compared to my Full-frame 35mm film "sensor" in my $100 Canon QL17 GIII with f/1.7 and ground glass which put those Carl-Zeiss lenses in the 808 to shame.. And it looks better, too..
41MP? I got 80MP scanned slides before..

HTC doesn't even care whether you still respect them or not.. They don't bother about 4-year-old kid who just learned how to copy paste from Google translate..

28. jackhammeR posted on 12 Feb 2013, 05:54

andro, sony and htc are the worst ones...every time a new product is unveiled they starting to negate the rest...even if the competition is years ahead (in terms of photography it would be Nokia).
Make more buzz...the failure will be much more painful, htc. As always.
And you dare to say anything about photography and negate Nokia's achievements.
