I think nfc is only used to establish a connection to two devices via bluetooth or wifi direct. It is not used to transfer file nfc perse.

Hahaha ... apparently you
don’t understand

$600 and $400 is for RX100MII and WX150 Camera not for the lens, I think the price of both lenses will be around $300 and $200.

Given the bulk of the add-on, I am wondering why not just go for a Sony RX100? Cost might be a reason, but otherwise, IDK. If you go for the RX100MII, you get WiFi connectivity to Android smartphones.

I think price and dimensions will be the the biggest reason.

I don'y really mind in terms of dimensions, because you can case it around in a case around your neck like most tourists or in your backpack.
I think the main reason is long it takes to attach it to your smartphone and takes photos.
If you can attach it and takes photos in under 10 sec and the price below $300 then I'm buying one.

I thought the same thing at first. But it's actually an interesting idea. The RX100MII is basically sensor, lens, processor and screen + hardware keys. The biggest problem of cameras is still their poor touch screen and size. We have a perfectly good high res touch screen on most phones. If you combine this lens and the phone screen, you have an excellent combo. My only concern is the wifi direct link and any potential lag as seen with Nex + RX100MIIs to smart phones. Also I expect the software for the lens cameras to be better than the playmemories app.

If it was fitted with the interchangeable Sony lens, it was no more a iPhone camera, because in such case phone is basically only a display.

Will these lens fit on phones which has the camera close to the edges or to the side? Like in the picture? Assuming that's how big it is.

The add-on is used instead of the native camera in the phone. I imagine the add-on is controlled by the phone using WiFi or Bluetooth.

Seriously, interchangeable lens. What a joke. We can't be innovative enough to make something less intrusive for a phone to take better pictures...aka Lumia 1020, and you expect this to be the newest thing. Heck, I can attach my old Minolta and Canon 35mm lens to a phone and use. This I am not even interested in seeing much less to purchase. A waste of time. Come on Sony, surely you can do better. My first post.....had to.

a lot of people dont like to carry phone with big humps and heavy!!
this is just an alternative, sony is not forcing you to buy it!!
plus there is no innovation in lumia 1020, the innovation has been done since the pureview, but if nokia made it 9mm below in thickness, that's the innovation!!

Lumia is just a camera not a good phone ! So ... take your preferred Android phone or IOS phone and put Sony on it ! Free world.

If you have interchangable lens I'm surprised you know so little about photography. It is simply not physically possible to fit a large 1" sensor (QX100) into the space of a smart phone. A large sensor also requires larger lens with multiple elements. Large megapixels doesn't actually mean quality when you have a sensor the size of a grain of sand (actually makes it worse). Sony is actually doing a much better job of making the impossible possible compared to anyone else.

If you have a retarded phone that sucks in photos i would definitely recommend this. This is a great idea if you ask me instead of releasing a phone that looks like a retarded camera phone (S4Zoom. Epic *facepalm* by samsung

Yeah not everyone is able or willing to buy Lumia 1020, or Honami.
Besides both these lenses have advantages that can’t be given by any camera phone.

but...it would be better to buy a normal point and shoot camera.
I'm not buying a phone to attach some kit to it.
If a phones takes rubbish photos, this toy won't change it.
And if I can have a great cameraphone, all ine one, taking much less space, why should I goofing around with accesories like this one?
We are getting closer and closer to the verge of nonsese.

who is stopping u?
no one cares what u think
all i care is about 1 inch sensor which will thrash every compact camera

Why should i goofing aroung with accesories like this one? The answer is cheaper, smaller, real camera features and quality.

if you just need phone with great camera just get Honami, 1020, or S4 Zoom, but for me Honami will be the best options because its the only one with non bulky form factor and the best hardware.
I also believe the overall image quality at least will on par with 1020 and if you don’t agree with me just wait until Sony officialy release Honami okay!

I'm guessing the lenses can also connect through NFC seeing that the lens are on the NFC area of the Xperia Z as seen in the picture.
