@msa1988 you forget the "/sarcasm"; withour it, people might think you seriously mean that.

Many non-technical people will think the 7.9" screen size of the mini means more on-screen than a much higher resolution 7" Android tablet.

right... super phone apps that forced to be used on tablet, super lag and bad battery compared to ipad... i pity those 'dumb' people would rather have a smooth experience and tablet that just works.

How does it work better? Everything on android is unified, it can do everything IOS can and much much much much more. And don't forget android tablets are way cheaper.

Can you customize anything besides your icon layout and background on IOS? No you can't.

Can you switch stock apps to different ones/ tell your phone which app you want to be used for doing certain things like opening a zip file, video/picture or music or which browser to open it with? No?

Can you download files from the web, attach usb devices like flash drives, mouse and keyboard, controllers and portable hard drives or run things like emualtors without jailbreaking? No again?

Well that sucks for you. I can name 1000 other things but I think thats enough.

nice try. good things that my ipad4 is jailbroken. i can do all those things on my jailbroken iPad4, and i can do it smoothly, 0 lags, and superb battery life comparing to any android tablet. most android apps are not suitable for tablet, and a research already prove that touch response time on ios devices is way faster than any android devices.
the only thing that android tablet is better than ipad : its cheap... and for that you have to give up battery life, lack of tablet apps, and living with lags... must be suck to be you...

and another studay has said that android 4.0+ has no lags....why do you complain about something you've never used or used 2,3 years before....

Well if the ipad mini is using an igzo display like the ipad 5 is supposed to have, then it would have a thinner profile.

It was embarassing enough that the first gen mini had no retina display, but I can't believe Apple would consider releasing gen 2 without retina either...that's just...bad.

I was really looking forward to new iPad mini but now i will have some new choices:
LG G pad or Galaxy note 10.1 or maybe Tablet Z.

Its all about the experience not about specs,i would still buy a Mini 2 because of its ecosystem and smoothness but its really dissapointing the lack of a Retina Display.
Anyway iPad 5 is the king!

Asus nexus 10 is going to destroy the iPad 5 flat out, in every way, no contest, and at a lower price point.

It would further enhance the Nexus 7 2013 edition. That is one sweet tablet.

They can't seriously field a $350 8" tablet with that 2010 screen resolution. I know there are people who'll buy anything with an Apple logo on it, but with both the Nexus and Kindle going 1080p, it'd be a complete joke.

If this is true what is the point of the iPad mini 2??? I really like the original but this is bad apple!! They might as well call it the iPad Mini 1s

Hmmm...the only way I think this would be true is if Apple was really that concerned about the mini severely outselling the full size slate. Think about it. If both devices were the exact same specs wise, where the only difference was the screen size, why buy the more expensive, larger, less portable tablet? That's not to say some people wouldn't but the full size ipad would be outsold in a huge way. Let's see what happens. The 22nd will be here soon enough.

You guys are forgetting who you are dealing with. The greediest fukks on the planet. They would raise Canadian hardware prices and raise the price of iOS apps in Japan to maintain their ridcukously high profit margins rather than given some of that to their consumers.

All it would take is this conversation for the iPad mini 2 to not have a retina display.

Tim Cook: Does the iPad mini 2 need a retina display to sell?

Head engineer and designer: I doubt it, the iPad 2 and mini 1 didn't.

Tim Cook: How much would giving it a retina display cut in on our profit margins?

Head engineer and designer: A lot

Tim Cook: Let's just rape these morons hard and use the same display then. Next item in the agenda!

How do you guys come up with the only way this is true nonsense? They did it before and they have always overpriced their products. A 2048 x 1536 igzo at 7.9mm would be about par for the course and maybe even a little bit over compared to what their competitors are offering and when has Apple EVER not ripped people off?

Take it easy Taters. This news is not even confirmed yet. While I understand what your saying with Apple going after the highest profit margins possible at the expense of their loyal following, lets wait and see on the 22nd if this is true. I would hope not but then again wouldn't be surprised if it was given their history.
