Leaked Best Buy ad puts Nexus 7 release at July 30th, confirms $229 price

We've seen a few different leaks that put the release date of the new Nexus 7 on the last day of July. But, a new leaked ad from Best Buy is putting the release date on July 30th, which would be a week from Tuesday. One day may not make a huge difference, but given the excitement around this tablet, one day could make some people very happy...

Noww everyone in the market does these so called "leakings" in purpose.... Don't u agree?

As soon as the patents are filed and the legal stuff/design/specs are done, they "leak" it to build up hype, works far more than keeping the secret, even Apple is doing that (yes, it's not the manufacturers because they must keep tight control on them as much as they do with their products' prices)

As someone who delivers the paper, I can tell you that a leak from a sunday sales flyer is out of google or any other company's hands. Those things are printed up and shipped to the bagging centers way more than a week in advance. That's where most of the black friday sales get leaked from as well.

They really should have offered more than a processor and resolution upgrade. I dont think this is worth the extra $70 over the original. Its not like tega 3 is super slow with lag. The everyday person would barley be able to notice a difference between the two.

When the resolution is 1080p I think it'll make some difference!

I agree with what you are saying, but some live wallpapers do lag on Tegra 3 devices and on my Nexus 4 there is no lag so upgrading the processor is a big deal for many.

I disagree. The two main issues and the reason why I got rid of my Nexus 7 was because the screen sucked and the build quality was terrible.
Now if this is Asus again like rumoured, the build quality will suck ass regardless, but the screen +processor + price combination might force my hand.
I hope it is LG or Samsung so I don't have to worry about the quality control.

Samsung's not exactly a bastion of great build quality, lest we forget the "creaking" when using the S3/S4.

What creaking? The creaking made up by HTC and Apple fans? I have never owned the GS4 but I have owned the GS3 and GS2. Both were flawless with no creaking whatsoever.

Taters is right it's just hate.
I myself own a GS4, and while there is creaking, it's from the back cover clipping onto the body. If you remove the back plate and THEN bend it, you won't near a darn thing, just like any top end phone from any other manufacturer.
The creaking sound isn't from the main body at all -- it's as sturdy as it can be. Don't spread lies icyrock1...

You just admitted there was creaking. Android Police even noticed it in everyday usage
How many people do you know use there phone with out the back plate? none, i'd imagine. Hence why that's a big deal.

I didn't know Android Police was an Apple Fanboy site.
Nor is Android Police known for being Bais. There one of the few sites that are in the middle ground when it comes to reviews.

I have a 1st gen Nexus 7. It's become painfully slow compared to what it was when I first got it. It seems it has to do with the type of memory nvidia recommends to use with the Tegra chip (it seems other's have been reporting the same with Asus's Transformer Pad). Even launching apps becomes a painfully slow task. Hopefully, they fix that with this one.

Tegra 3 is more than 1/3 the power of this device.
16gb isn't enough they should of done 32/64.

Lets hope the build quality is better than the first Nexus 7....

Well, my N7 has fallen from places and still no cracks, only a small dent on one of the corners and I have no cover for it

What's wrong with the nex7 build quality? It's an inexpensive tablet, and yet the build quality is flawless IMHO. It doesn't have premium materials, true, but you must consider its price. Otherwise you can get an Xperia Tablet Z and pay 4 times the price of the nex7!

What's with build quality!! My nexus 7's build is awesome. I don't even use a case and use it pretty roughly. It has hold up pretty good. It has that nice feel to it.

Getting tired of this .... every device leaks out before the announcement, no company can suprise us anymore -_- ...

Hmm... If they did a 64GB version with mobile data I'd hit that up.

Fake ad. Best Buy doesnt carry any Nexus tablets...to include the original Nexus 7...unless they finally woke up and figured out that selling apple and samsung tablets over the nexus 7 line of tablets would not help their profits
24. Napalm_3nema (Posts: 1377; Member since: 14 Jun 2013)
Selling Apple tablets over the razor-thin margin Nexus tablets does help their profits because the Apple tablets actually sell. More iPad Minis sold last quarter than all Nexus tablets last year. More sold = more profit.
29. Taters (Posts: 3673; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Um, you do know that Bestbuy and Carriers do not get those Apple profit margins right? That is why some carriers, like in Russian and that big company in Japan, are finally putting their foot down and demanding more than stupid Apple fans visiting their stores potentially buying their selection of non Apple accessories. Apple has been getting all the profits for far too long and carriers should stand up to them. Sure, selling third party Apple accessories is lucrative but they can get more out of Apple if they just put their foot down. Apple has been hoarding all the profits to the tune of 100 billion in the bank for far too long.
With the Nexus tablets, Google gets none of the profit and the carriers get all, but the margin is so low that all is not much. So in that sense, they are both equally as bad.
Selling every other brand is their best bet.

Unless you are buying a cellular-enabled iPad or Nexus, there are no subsidies. Best Buy doesn't pay retail price for their merchandise, so they are making profit off each item. You need to ditch the uninformed hate and take a basic economics course.
34. Taters (Posts: 3673; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Um I have taken plenty of basic economic courses and worked as a buyer at Best buy Canada. I know that Apple hogs all the profits. That is a fact. Unlike you who pretend that you know.
Unlike dumb asses like you, I know Apple operates like that. As you would learn from business and economics courses, if you have ever taken one. The Safeway and walmarts do not make much profit if any on the Starbucks or McDonalds stands located inside them. The reason they have them in there is so people come in to buy a coffee ends up doing their shopping there.
With Apple it is exactly the same business strategy. The stores AND the carriers get basically nothing except Apple customers going to their stores that might buy accessories. Apple takes all the profits, those are the facts. How else do you think so many Bestbuy stores are being shut down and Apple has that much money? You need to take a basic common sense course.

Thank God no more Nvidia powering these devices!
