A leaked document from big box retailer Best Buy, shows that the Android 4.3 update, which has recently rolled out internationally, will soon be coming to U.S. versions of the same model; popular devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Samsung GALAXY Note II, and the Samsung Galaxy S III will all support Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch once each device gets updated to Android 4.3...

It's hard to make a great product without imitate someone else, maybe will be better when Apple will come with his own device ... just trolling, don't be mad :D

I think he is saying they need to copy Apple, which I would think is pretty hard since even Apple do not know what to do with a smart watch. They still need engineers to help with the "design" which I am assuming also includes the function. It has no purpose for now, it is just a money making device they need other than cell phones. Apple was only making it because they make expensive jewellery, not because it is a necessary item. The rest followed because they thought they could get their own mindless horde to buy it, but clearly theirs isn't as big as Apple's.

Absolutely correct in samsungs case. First Nokia and now Apple. Samsung will always copy. Heck even their vacuum cleaners are copied.
23. sprockkets (Posts: 670; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
Samsung's design is unique and doesn't copy the ball design dyson did. This time he is wrong.
53. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
"Unique" and samsung are worlds apart from each other.
24. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
Just so we're all clear, can you give us the list of things that you believe samsung has copied from apple? I'll assume nothing on the list is prior art.
34. ardent1 (Posts: 1865; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
I will help you out. Just read the legal complaint Apple filed against Samsung. This way, you get it from the horses mouth.
39. WHoyton1 (Posts: 1481; Member since: 21 Feb 2013)
hahah you honestly beleive samsung copied apple when apple say it!! Apple are more unreliable than samsung!!
44. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
I'd anyday rely more on Apple Nokia and Sony. Samsung simply sucks. Heck they pay people to write reviews n trolls to bash others!
58. Rayvelynn (Posts: 123; Member since: 05 Jul 2012)
That's funny. your saying that Samsung sucks when an Apple Iphone has nothing but Samsung parts in it. Including the RAM. The only thing that Apple truly owns is the OS in the Iphone & Ipad lol
64. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
So? Apple has their quality control to see samsung doesnt cut corners like they do with their phones.
41. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
And thank you for also not naming 1 thing. Because if you did, you would just name something Apple copied itself. I'll help you out, Apple didn't invent pinch to zoom.
43. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
From their hardware design to UI design, samsung copies everything Apple. Heck they even follow their naming schemes! Apple comes out with 3GS, lo and behold, samsung comes out with galaxy S! Copied to the core albeit with a larger screen! Apple comes out with iPad 2013 edition, samsung comes out with note 10.1 2014 edition!
A simple google search and the list is endless! Samsung is just confused!
59. Rayvelynn (Posts: 123; Member since: 05 Jul 2012)
And where would your precious Iphones & Ipads be if it wasn't for Samsung.http://science.opposingviews.c
62. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
Exactly where they are. They can source these things from others too. The real question is, where will your precious samsung be without Apple, both, in case of makin money off Apple hardware deals n copying.
60. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
So, you're really going to come back with the letter "s" (which apple uses every other year), apple's UI (rows of icons), and hardware design (the rounded corner). So, you listed a few things that Apple copied to say that Samsung copied. Back to the article, by your logic, if Apple does ever get ability to create a smartwatch, it will be a copy of samsung if it tells time or makes phone calls. Samsung has already done those things.

You must either be blinded by fanboy-ism, a paid troll or downright stupid. Nokia came out with 5800, HTC came out with Desire, Sony came up with the X10, Motorola with their Droid range around the same time as the phones I mentioned earlier. Why don't they look like an exact replica of the 3GS? Why does only the galaxy S look like an exact replica of 3GS? Your argument is completely invalid.
Here are the links to their pics-
Now tell me they look distinctly different!
And since u say Apple copied, show me anything that looked exactly like the 1st gen iPhone before it came out?
66. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
The LG Prada won the IF design award 7 months before the iphone was announced.
The Samsung F700 was released about 2 weeks after the iphone. Knowing it was impossible for Samsung to copy and mass produce a phone in 2 weeks, Apple successfully filed a motion to Judge Koh to not allow the f700 to be admitted as evidence. Samsung wasn't even allowed to say "f700." Maybe you know something that Apple's lawyers don't.

Check out the announced date of both the phones on the same page. While you are at it, check out the announced date on this phone:
They were both announced 1 month after the iPhone. Enough time for companies this big to copy a design and announce. Doesn't matter when they released it since they had already knew the design of the iPhone. But that is all they could copy, not the success.
70. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
As stated, the LG Prada was at shows as the FIRST capacitive touch screen phone. As stated, it won the iF design award in SEPTEMBER 2006.....well before it was announced. For reiteration, SEPTEMBER 2006.
71. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
"Announced: 07 Feb 2007" from the very page u asked me to take a look at!! According to u, the phone got released before it was even announced?? Thats the dumbest thing iv heard!
37. DAddYE (Posts: 48; Member since: 04 Oct 2013)
I mean everyone steal ideas design and so on. I like(d) the old Japanese culture: copy and improve and then try (if you are able) to make your own. Not admitting that Samsung copied and stolen a lot of designs and concepts is so dumb like those who think Apple invented the mouse. Samsung is now where Apple was at the time of OS9. Ok on hardware side damn bad on software.

I have and love the Note 3, but the Gear is definitely not something I have an interest in since it's only an expensive extension of the smartphone. Plus the band makes it look cheap.
11. woodshop20 (Posts: 449; Member since: 14 Sep 2013)
The Gear's simply too expensive, and it doesn't have the big watch brand (Seiko, Casio etc.) or enough functionality to back up the price. A 30% return rate is lower than what I actually expected.
I reckon the only company that will have good sales on their smartwatch is Apple, cos well, the majority of their customers are brainwashed.
13. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
Apple will sell more coz they'll actually make a better device. And then Samsung will copy n all its brainwashed fanbots will believe they have a better product, when instead they'll be owning a sub par, low quality imitation product.
30. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
Great comment. So, what do you expect Apple will bring to the table when they finally get around to producing a smartwatch? What features do you think are are lacking that Apple will have? What complaints about the gear, if you can name any, do you think Apple will correct? Or, maybe you just believe the iwatch will be better because it's made by Apple and specifics are required. Or, you can save us all time by simply posting "Samsung sucks, Apple is great" in every article.
47. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
Did u know what Apple was bringing to the table before the iPod came out? Did you know what an iPhone will be before it came out? Heck, did u know a simple app store can define the way an OS's success is based on? Did u know a tablet can revolutionize the industry before Apple made one? I dont know and apparently even samsung doesnt know, thats why it waits for Apple to release something. Earlier it was Nokia they copied. Dont believe me?
Desing copied down to the dual slider!

42. nobelset (Posts: 245; Member since: 17 Oct 2012)
Seriously? You attached a link of CNET? It's like the most biased towards apple website I've ever seen.
48. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
Yes everybody, even PA is biased towards Apple right? Why? Apple pays their rent? A good product gets good reviews.
54. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
You want me to post from other sites? It's what samsung said, not cnet. They confessed their product is no good. Read before commenting.
55. alouden (Posts: 151; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Do we really have to make this an Apple versus Samsung debate?
22. joey_sfb (Posts: 1506; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
RoyalPayne really hate all things Samsung. Unfortunately for him Samsung is now the leading brand and making huge amount of profits. My circle of close friends was 100% apple till 2011. Now they are firmly in Samsung camp because Apple is crap offering the same device year after year at a ridiculous high price.
Our regret is that we used to trust Apple and invested heavily in the platform. It good to be finally Free from Apple's tyranny.
35. ardent1 (Posts: 1865; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
We believed until the "circle of close friends" part -- like you could have close friends. Oh please.
49. RoyalPayne (banned) (Posts: 458; Member since: 07 Aug 2013)
Opposite here. All my friends are now converting to Apple and Nokia from android phones. I dont hate samsung, i hate their practices. I dont care how much profit a company makes, all that matters is if I'm getting good support and a good product after the price i paid. Nothing beats Apple and now Nokia in that respect.
56. alouden (Posts: 151; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Funny, I hate Apple's practices and would never buy an iPhone. But I bet we can say that about every major corporation, yes? As for the iPhone, it is overpriced. And it's just another brand. It holds no mystique in my eyes. They are good phones to be sure. I just know I would never be happy with one. Despite my preference, I don't feel the need to trash them at every opportunity.
25. joey_sfb (Posts: 1506; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
I do agree with woodshop20 that its expensive compare to other smart watches. I decided to buy because it also look good on my wrist.
If you can get it on discount buy it.
3. PapaSmurf (Posts: 4278; Member since: 14 May 2012)
I'll have my Note 3 (again) by then, but good news to the other Galaxy owners.
4. HASHTAG (Posts: 390; Member since: 26 Mar 2013)
Well that's what happen when you release a half-finished product.
6. ardent1 (Posts: 1865; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
30% return rate is insane. It's very hard to think of (consumer) products with such a high rejection rate from end users.
7. darkkjedii (Posts: 7892; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
30% return rate? Wowww, Sammy that's not good. Great phones though.
9. verbalize (Posts: 52; Member since: 03 May 2013)
LOL.... Why does this not surpris me.. You rush something and look what you get. Garbage!
10. CX3NT3_713 (Posts: 1060; Member since: 18 Apr 2011)
..not surprising... There really isn't no benefit, with the smart watch..you probably look cool ,with the geeks, but thats about it.....
12. joey_sfb (Posts: 1506; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
Geeks don't care about looking cool. 7 out of 10 are happy customer which i am one of them. I have the Sony smart watch which is useful but gear beat that in term of personal productivity mainly because of the camera.
People that don't own gear wouldn't be able to understand it including myself when i first wear it. After a few weeks its a must have gadget for me.
17. joey_sfb (Posts: 1506; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
You can troll all you want i buy things to form my own opinions.
So much hate for a little device. LOL!
16. joey_sfb (Posts: 1506; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
I also waiting for the hot and agent watchs as well pledged from kickstarter. Hope they can beat gear in term of productivity.
Everyone has high expectation on iWatch so we shall see.
19. Meccalangelo (Posts: 7; Member since: 05 Mar 2013)
Wait, what?? Am I the only one that noticed VZW's GS4 actually get their update first?? That must be a typo!
20. DAMONORIBELLO (Posts: 26; Member since: 18 Mar 2012)
All of the intelligent Best Buy salespeople and/or customers who purchase at Best Buy who made the assumption that the Galaxy Gear worked with any phone. That would be the reason for your 3/10 return rate.
26. willard12 (Posts: 380; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
Exactly. Notice this article doesn't point out the reason for the returns but the context of the leaked document is the 4.3 update, the update that allows the gear compatibility with other devices. Wouldn't best buy have 2 separate documents if the 4.3 update and the Gear's return rate were seperate issues?
