Leak claims 16 variants of the iPad Mini, gives pricing

0. phoneArena 14 Oct 2012, 21:29 posted on

At first, this leak sounded a bit off to us. Apple is known for keeping a minimum of variants on each of its products. This means that there are fewer necessary components and less to hold in stock. But, looking at the breakdown, it seems reasonable that we just may see 16 different models of iPad Mini on the way...

I assume it priced at $350 instead of $250 just to be prudence...
That way I can save enough money to line up at cupertino :)

Good at least Apple is waking up to market realities after losing market shared down to 52%. Sooner or later they will wake up to reality of pricing it right to eliminate tyhe absurd profits that they make. It will happen for sure ...

I don't think market share would affect the prices all too much, just looks at their Mac computers. 10% or so pc market share and they don't seem to be in any rush to release a fairly priced Mac. Sadly apple doesn't operate like other manufacturers :/

Market can force a change in thought process of even the most arrogant of organizations. 40 billions cash cannot hold any company for long and NOKIA is a living example ... after all it's the CUSTOMER who is KING and it's market share that made them think of entering a segemnt which SJ arrogantly pooh poohed just a few years back just because he though ppl should use the ~10 incher from them.

It's only to get away from this market controlled arena that we have now that Apple is ridiculously suing everywhere (and losing at most palces except home ground). If they get down to 10% market share their 630/share value will also come to 63 and the bubble of "Most Valuable Company" would burst ... :)

I don't understand the 8GB model. That is just a waste of a unit. No one is going to buy the 64GB model as you are better going with the iPad 3 32GB model for the same price.

True, though portability could be more prevalent versus a higher-red screen and better internals.

Though when have apple buyers ever cared about specs except when it suits them?

Yeah. If someone wants to compete, their products must be above the "already above" (like Nexus and other tablets). The 8GB Ipad mini is just like buying a piece of a picture frame with apple embedded at the rear side- Can't do anything with 8GB

thats absurd.
"cant do anything with an 8gb"
most people don't put crap on an ipad except apps and use it to browse the web

So why buy the new iPod Touch if the iPad Mini is $50 cheaper. I think it would cost more like $350

I'm sure there'll still be a pretty big market for iPod touch buyers. For parents who don't want to get their kid a smartphone, they'd probably be more willing to buy an iPod touch over an iPad even if the iPad is $50 cheaper. Not saying its a smart way of doing it I'm just speaking out of what I've seen.

To be honest, I think ipod touch is much favourable because of the 32gb storage :)

**Correction** The article labels it at 250 Euros which is more like $322 (dollars). So since apple generally goes for more margin it's a safe bet to label it at $350 in the US, if these figures are true of course

Not really: prices in Europe include taxes, while prices in USA normally don't. So the price normally tend to be the same in $ or Euros.
EG: Google Nexus 7 8GB costs $199 in USA and 199 Euros in Europe. Same for most of the products.

i dont get it.. cellular? you mean you can make gsm calls on your iPad?

lol but i think its not gonna happen--- releasing a lot by apple!?

this iPad mini will be available at 8GB, 16GB and 32GB coz apple dont make device that will hurt its other devices!

why only that memory... coz apple's new iPod touch starts at $299 for the 32GB version...so i was thinking apple will make this iPad mini on 3 different memory only! but price almost similar to the iPod and the iPad!
