Great job being first! I gave you a thumbs up!!

htc for the win because motorola likes to lock out custom roms. Other than that they make good phones. Except for the Motoblur...

Trgichero, I made a few phone calls regarding the 3G to 4G issue you have brought up and I must admit....there is some truth to it. However, you are not going to be happy with the reason behind it. In addition to Verizon dragging their feet on the Thunderbolt lauch because of the excess of Phone inventory sitting in ther Distribution Centers....there was a huge delay in the "Technical Approval" proecess because of iPhone as well. VZW is nortotious for it's product testing. Generally devices are subject to a 10-16 week lab testing approval process... on the longer end of the timeline for Smartphones. The problem again, lies with Apple. VZW requested the iPhone 4 be brought into their labs well before x-mass for testing. Apple flat out refused....claiming the need to keep their devices "secret" untill the last possible moment before launch. Fear of "spy shots"....leaking of sensitive tech specs...etc.. As we all know, Apple counts on mystery and secrecy in order to generate "hype" and in turn, demand for their products...they are masters at it. AT&T is all too familiar with this as well....as they only had a few weeks to test their variant and relied on claims from Apple that the voice capabilities were the same as the iPhone 3. We all know how that turned out with "antenna-gate" VZW only had the iPhone 4 "in lab" for 6 weeks prior to launch. Mangement was concerned with a possible "antenna-gate" issue of their own and ordered all lab resources be devoted strictly to the iPhone prior to launch.....especially their "Drive testers" who "drive" the network with a device in order to determine reliabilty, functionality, network drain.....etc. This had a "ripple effect" on the Thunderolt. AS I was told....."the 300+ test units sat in a closet for 7 weeks gathering dust". Not sure if the "3G to 4G" issue was missed or known about all along, but it certainly would have been addressed long ago if it were not for Apple and their "self absorbed" demands. The original Feb. 14th launch date was based on the date VZW got the Thunderbolt for testing.....it's been delayed ever since.

Now the good news is the Thundebolt is at PCD's (HTC's distibutor in the USA) warehouse being flashed with the latest software update to address the issue. You may have read about "conditional approval" in another posting. It's actually considered "Technical Approval"or TA...meaning the product folks at VZW have given the device their blessing allowing it to be used on the network. The "conditional" part was the new flash requirement. Word on the street is it may hit by 3/17, worse case end of month. I'll be in Orlando at CTIA in 2 weeks and be surprised if it's not launched by then.

Again, VZW execs were't rushing to get the TA process complete because of all the iPhone inventory in stock and was hoping they could move more of it with the lack of a 4G capable smartphone on their shelves.

BS. They are just adding fuel to the fire. Coming soon could mean 2 weeks, 1 or even 2 months from now. The only think I want to here from htc and verizon right now is the official release date and price.

Yup. Coming soon could be next year (as in sooner than the following year). I don't know what is behind all of the dodging, but it would seem to be problems with the network. HTC knows how to make phones, so I rather doubt it is problems on the HTC side of the equation. Which leaves good ole VZW....

When did "they" lie? If by they you mean HTC or Verizon the answer you should be looking for is never. Rumored release dates are not the same as official manufacture- or carrier-announced release dates.

Thanks for the clarification, I could tell the April Fools part was a joke, but how many comments do you see on other articles with people making such a big deal that "they" keep pushing the release date back when there was never an official release date announced?

Everyone needs to do their HW and research the Bionic. The Bionic will be the lighting compared to the Thunderbolt and everyone knows lighting comes before thunder!!

but everyone knows that a thunderbolt is both thunder AND lightning, look it up, i bet 90% of the definitions you find say "a discharge of lightning accompanied by thunder"....well not EVERYBODY i guess......and with your "lightnings" motoblur it'll probably be called the "drizzle after the thunderstorm"! and i have done the research.....look at the atrix its supposed to be great also but motoblur ruined it! The same thing will happen to the bionic, never in history has htc sense slowed down a phone. plus Htc just makes better phones. I never heard of a incredible that blew up in someones ear before! guess what, the droid 2 has....yeah I like my ears....so HTC it is!!!!

i agree with beatlesfan. never once did HTC or Verizon give a release date. Every date shown was rumored and everyone simply fell on it and felt they were betrayed by a simple rumored date because it wasn't released. I understant the phone has some problems that they are trying to fix so why not wait on a phone that has been fixex completely then have an early released phone with problems. Just my opinion.

Verizon and/or HTC are buying time. If you think about it, AT&T and T-Mobile are still far away from introducing LTE devices. Now that the iPhone is on Verizon, and other carriers are doing underhanded disguises of 4G, Verizon really has no pressure to get LTE phones out the gate.

Had Verizon come up with a 3.5G platform, and marketed it as 4G, like the GSM carriers have done, they probably would have stalled LTE until 2H 2011 as well.

If LTE is really having issues in testing, then perhaps Verizon will pull an AT&T and release the Thunderbolt with 4G disabled, and enable it via a software update when it's ready to go live.

Considering the fact if I wanted to use 4g I would have to drive to detroit I really could care less about 4g right now until its in my area. I just want the phone for now.

True, I agree with that. I want the phone now and don't even NEED 4g at this point. But I also understand Verizon here, if they really DO have problems with LTE. I do want the phone, but once I have it, I'd be really pissed if I had outages all the time or something like that.

"Now that the iPhone is on Verizon, and other carriers are doing underhanded disguises of 4G, Verizon really has no pressure to get LTE phones out the gate." Umm no pressure? Your Joking right? T-Mo "4G" is actually reasonable and affordable, hows that not pressure to Verizon?. Also, T-Mo HSPA+ is going at theorized speeds of 21 mbps and will be upgraded to theorized speeds of 42 in the summer. Verizon will only be the fastest network with theorizes speed of 32 mbps till summer when T-mo Upgrades, thats less than three months. So when you say no pressure your being sarcastic right?. AND "Underhanded disguises"??? Verizons phones are also Underhanded disguises since they have no real 4G, Stop Making T-Mo and Att look like a joke. P.S. Verizon is Using Pre LTE not LTE, Its LTE when it reaches 100mbps.

This phone needs to really come out because I am so over the Droid 2, The Blur or whatever slows it down dramatically. I will never buy another Motorola product unless is doesn't have BLUR!! If this phone doesn't hurrry up then I might just wait for the LG Revolution

HTC is only good at UI, Updates and Built Quality. i Dont think HTC phones that lack a good camera, good display, GREAT BATTERY!!!, and good performance is a real phone. Also LG is great its just the Built quality but that doesnt matter if u pay extra 10$ for phone insurance. Have you Ever owned a real phone?

actually bro. my camera is good on my phone. the build quality is superb. the display is just fine, and the touch screen is beyond good. GREAT BATTERY? ehh... not really. but name a smartphone with a GREAT BATTERY??? not even the god created 'iphone' has a great battery. ALL smartphones need to be charged daily. and yes... my phone is made by HTC.

did i mention is has flash?

Sorry i was just trying to back up LG, Hey i own the t-mobile G2 manufactured by HTC and i love it But i also love LG. I think LG doesnt go overboard like Samsung or Motorola which makes them simple almost like the Nexus one or 2.

Check your link again. AT the bottom it says tweet has been removed. Neither htc or verizon has confirmed that date. So it's not official just another reported release date like all the others.
