Latest Samsung ad has Apple faithful "Sam-sunged"

Samsung says it will have an ad running during this year's Super Bowl and you know that it will probably be another in the recent series of spots that takes a jab at Apple iPhone users; the latest commercial ads a new verb to the language, Sam-sunged...

I guess that explains why they are the most popular android phones and definitely a thorn in Apple's side considering how much litigation and the fact that Apple tries to block sales of Samsung's devices...right hard times. $hit iPhone users say, lol.

Face facts, Samsung has a big hit with the Galaxy S line. I have used the SGS II, that phone is amazingly smooth and has a very large screen and it looks wicked. I personally don't like Samsung phones that much, but the Galaxy S II is something of a benchmark. Samsung is pretty confident in their product, why you mad brah?

I love how all the apple fanboys are complaining about these ads, hilarious. I am still amazed at this point that the apple douches still believe iPhones are better than Androids, its kinda sad once you think about it.

I don't like what they picked out though. Turn by turn navigation is great but its a free app on the app store. Not to mention the unboxing part is a bit nerdy. The idea is good but they could of done a better job.

Anyway i remeber when the iphome commercial said if you don't have an iphone you don't have an iphone people were insulted. Why aren't people insulted by this similar ad campaign. I am not i think its funny but others should be if the apple ad insulted them.

The fact that Maps with Navigation is a native feature of Android means it's naturally going to be very robust, as well as having better long term support. Google is very good about keeping its native programs updated with bug fixes and new features.

Also, the Apple ad was insulting because it implied that having an iPhone was the be all to end all while listing some mundane features and programs that competing platforms already have. This ad is funny because it targets the hype over the iPhone, while saying "yeah, our product is also better."

Well thy give the impression that you can't get navigation on a iphone witch isn't true. Also the navigation apps are pretty good the google one is better but thats not the issue. The issue is they gave a false impression.

Now you are critizing apple for advertising features that others have? Well you see the difference is apple didn't give the impression no else had these features.

Follow up to last paragraph. All they said was their verison was better. For example the appstire commercial they said they had the largest selectiom of apps not only one with appstore. Therefore implying other appstores exist. Also its not insulting because they were just sayig our protuct is better. And i agree sammys comercial is funny.

You know what i rewatched it and caught the part where she said how much did you pay for that app. (to be fair she said it quitly and most people don't pay great attention to commercials and will get the impression iphone doesn't have nav) So basically they are advertising the fact that you can save a dollar. O wow impresive. Mundane feature much?

First of all I said android navigation is better. Second of all the commercial doesn't advertise its better it just advertising it has it. And third of all people don't really care whats better as long as it gets you where you want to go and they both will so its kind of a mute point anyway.

Actually, the iPhone commercials would say "if you don't have an iPhone, then you don't have feature x, which does x." They implied that there were no meaningful alternatives.

The Samsung commercial was pointing out that navigation comes native without having to download/purchase anything from a third party. That's all, really. Beyond the fact that it's there for me, the inclusion of features like that is nice because irt shows how much thought Google put into the OS in order to make the OS as feature rich as possible.

They are just saying there product is the best. I hope when you are advertising your product you say your product is better and explain why it is better then the other companies. They certainly do that and don't say any lies. They never said the other products aren't worth having but simply their is better. What do you expect for them to proclaim android's market is better then theirs?

Yea I agree its nice to have navigation without downloading an app but what would have been more effective for samsung to do was to explain why its better. Saying they have it will trick some people into thinking apple doesn't have turn by turn navigation because why would samsung be advertising the fact they have nav if apple has it too. Which I don't get why they are doing it either.

Also I don't really think this shows thought by google because I am sure apple thought about it but we all know how slow they implement new features into the iPhone. Not to mention that was kind of the point of the appstore really whatever the iPhone doesn't have there's an app for that. Which is kinda nice for apple because now they don't have to rush to implement turn by turn navigation into iOS and when they do it will most likely be better and more polished. I am sure they will include some innovations in the way we use navigation. Are maybe just be easier to use. I have an idea for them witch is to incorporate siri to include natural directional dictation. Who knows they could just get google's version but there have been rumors of apple doing maps in house.

to some people a dollar is alot...none the less even if it is cheap to get such a feature fact is fact...its the same as the if you dont have an iphone ads you could do all those things on android as well.

Yeah to some people a dollar is a lot like the people who make iPhones for 70 cents an hour however for people who buy smartphones a dollar isn't a lot considering the cost of an iPhone is over 2 grand in a two year contract. The difference with the iPhone ads is they aren't claiming that android doesn't have what they are advertising they are claiming their's is better. Samsung is claiming that iOS doesn't have certain things such as screen size and 4g. Thats why its a bit disingenuous to include navigation. Anyway In truth I don't have a problem with the ad and think its funny for calling out fanboys but anyone who doesn't have a problem with these ads and had a problem with the apple's out is where my problem is.

Actually my friend has an iphone and he tried downloading navigation on his phone. All the free ones he could get of the app store only gave him writen directions. He wanted a real navy so he payed a dollar to get one. Still it was only a basic navy that didnt say the street names, so he wasnt happy about that one either. Yea its only a dollar but doesnt the iphone come with a gps hardware installed in it? So why doesnt apple provide a preloaded softwear on the phone that operates it. Insted they make you pay "only a dollar" to make extra money of you like they dont make enough already.

Well maybe your friend picked a bad one because their are mutiple ones on the appstore. They are some with very good reviews and I had good experiences with some as well. And again someone else complaining about a dollar. Ok you spent 200 dollars on a iphone most likely and a dollar is half a percent of that and you spent 2 grand for service and data and texting plans insurance and all that over 2 years. 1 dollar is .05% of that. Also apple doesn't even make that full dollar so really its not that big of a deal.

I agree spending a dollar on an app wont even make a slight dent on almost anyones pocket. It is not about saving that one dollar though, It just shows how apple goes about their users and customers. Their devices come with certain hardware installed but they charge you extra to instal the software to operate it. They know that eventually almost everyone will use it so why not make couple of bucks of them(knowing they could get away with it) in the process resulting in millions in extra income. If it wasn't for competition apple would probably love to charge extra for every currently free app there is available.

In all fairness, the original Droid commercials (Droid Does series) also pointed out what the iFail series couldn't; Samsung is being more brazen about it now, actually including the imagery associated with iDevices rather than just alluding to them. Regardless, funny commercials. Apple's advertisements would be false advertising if it weren't for the fact they include the apple-only products (facetime, itunes, etc) and you notice they don't include ads for the Retina display anymore either, since that's an LG invention that they're putting on all their high-end phones, like the Spectrum and Nitro HD
