G is apparently for the flagship series where we expect the Optimus G Pro for the rest of the world to make a cameo, L is for the L-series refresh, and the F-series we've only heard rumored before, but what is the V-series..?

LG, copying on the success of Samsung. Samsung, copying on the succes of Apple. HTC has a deal with Apple so we won't comment on the M7 aka One. What can we say about the Koreans? Like China, cloning is legal.
