LG unveils DVB-H and MediaFLO mobile phones

LG Electronics has unveiled their first mobile phones to support Nokia's DVB-H (digital video broadcasting-handheld) and Qualcomm's MediaFLO (media forward link only) mobile digital TV standards. Both of these technologies are in competition with DMB to be adopted as a global standard. The DVB-H technology supports GSM, GPRS and WCDMA networks, which control more than 70 percent of the mobile phone market all over the world. At the same time Verizon Wireless plans to offer live TV on mobile devices through MediaFLO technology, starting in September. Therefore there will be a demand for such mobile phones. LG Electronics announced that the new handsets will be officially introduced at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
