LG to examine its 2009 eye-tracking patents for infringement by the Samsung Galaxy S 4
0. phoneArena 19 Mar 2013, 08:08 posted on
LG is reportedly planning to examine whether the subsequent Samsung patents on the matter don't infringe on its portfolio, which Samsung, naturally, is said to deny with a passion. There are plenty of other overlaps in our opinion, like the Dual recording mode from the G Pro that we saw materializing as Dual video during the announcement of the Galaxy S 4 last week, so the story is bound to get better...

i dont get it ? why so much hate about samsung now ? at first people were like "there's this company who can give apple a run for their company " and then suddenly after seeing s4 made of plastic you people got mad , that doesnt make sese .Literally people are now judging a phone form its build quality rather than features , and yes i am not a samsung fan i own a nexus4 , just telling the hypocrisy level had came to its finest .

if people don't hate Samsung, the sales figures should be 4 billions, but why it just 400millions, simply because a lot of them still hate Samsung, they just don't wanna voice up
its like Apple fanboy used to bash us, we don't voice up, until iPhone 4s came out, we start to voice up against them... Did you see the clear picture?

4 billion...You say that as if their aren't other options for phones. Just because their not at 4 billion doesn't mean their hated...In fact who do you know is at 4 billion?

They don't hate Samsung because the GS4 is plastic, they hate Samsung because the GS4 owns the crap out of their chosen handset and brand. They are hopelessly trying to prevent their beloved Sony and HTC from getting owned again by trying to tarnish Samsung's accurate image of being the superior company.

Now that's some real talk! The whole "plastic" thing just makes me laugh too. Couldn't tell you how many people with a GS3, One X, and iPhone that I know which have dropped, thrown, smashed, or stepped on their respective phones and all have broken the glass and/or LCD on their phones. Still have yet to see anyone crack the housing on any of these phones, it's always the glass or LCD that breaks. So really, how much does the "feel" and materials used to build a phone matter when the same thing is what breaks on all of them?

I guess because people are seeing the same issues here that they saw with Apple and the same behaviours and blind following from its fans. Fans so blind they cannot appreciate quality in any other product but the one they love. Fans bashing other competitors products and trolling other sites/blogs to trash rival products. Karma, I suppose!

Wow so it took less than 24 hours for Samsung to develop a feature like this, and we didn't see a single demo of this feature by LG.
Go home LG, you're drunk

So...once again we have someone who has a patent on something (who hadn't done anything with it for years) and now they cry because someone else brought it to market first. If you have a patent for something do something with it, or move aside.

if you copying their patents you must pay for it
88. lyndon420 (Posts: 3372; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
I agree. But the patent laws need to change. No more patenting ideas because obviously ideas can be re-worded to sound different but mean the same thing. Make the idea real and tangible and then patent it. I think who ever files first with a working prototype/proof of service should be awarded the patent.
91. yudi.nemesis (Posts: 1127; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
but you must know that without the idea or the formula we can't make any prototype/proof
just look the history every innovations need some idea or formula before it comes into reality
if samsung copying lg patent they need to pay some money to lg
but if they use different idea lg need to shut up their mouth

Why can't companies research before they release products.
72. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Um, they do research. The better question is why can't companies stop making baseless accusations of patent infringement.

In business there are 2 different types,a market leader and market follower.Samsung wanted to be the leaders with its so call innovative tech and excellent marketing strategy and others will follow its successful path. The leader being praised by its innovative while the followers being bashed by copying it. The difference is,the follower always come out with something that is improved over the leader, for example,LG Optimus G pro vs GSN2.Ohh you can't deny that G pro is upper hand over GSN2 from its hardware but it was being bashed that copying GSN2.Just because of being a fan of some certain brand will make one blind,I always choose not to be a fan to any of the manufacturers,in fact I love improvement,so I will go for G pro this time. :D

I don't know why many people are over exaggerating this, each and every company (including samsung) examine the competitor's product for patent infringement and if there is any infringement they usually (not always) reach to a settlement.

Man ... Samsung is so lucky... they get so much of free advertisement through these patent wars ... HTC should have learnt something instead of sleeping with the enemy ...

They are both Korean firms, I don't expect drama.
87. Dunknown (Posts: 84; Member since: 23 Jul 2012)
It is a bad lesson to learn from Samsung. Every phone maker like LG, Nokia, HTC, Sony and Apple they do their own research and implement it on the phone. WHile Samsung does some research but it is the research of how to put the components in the phone so that it looks thin. That's why Samsung is consider the King of phonemaker as well as King of copycat.
89. lyndon420 (Posts: 3372; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
So when apple comes out with NFC they are copying yes? Kinda like when they broke the chains on their 3.5" screen cap to offer more variety like the competition?
90. lyndon420 (Posts: 3372; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
Gene Rodenberry must be pissed he didn't know the importance of patenting an idea.

>> And why doesnt LG introduce it in the launching of LG Optimus G Pro ?
>> Is it LG's trick to ban Samsung ?
103. alexzibrit (Posts: 67; Member since: 15 Jan 2013)
So Let LG released their phone without the feature and planned to add the feature a month after? Why would they do that?, And Patents should not count if you never used the the tech you so called invented before, and never even invented it but only had the concept

Plus It's funny how Smart Pause doesn't monitor your Retinas only your face or more so the location of your eyes, not specifically your retina , It's like Smart Stay for Video, Exactly Like that
