LG to examine its 2009 eye-tracking patents for infringement by the Samsung Galaxy S 4

0. phoneArena 19 Mar 2013, 08:08 posted on

LG is reportedly planning to examine whether the subsequent Samsung patents on the matter don't infringe on its portfolio, which Samsung, naturally, is said to deny with a passion. There are plenty of other overlaps in our opinion, like the Dual recording mode from the G Pro that we saw materializing as Dual video during the announcement of the Galaxy S 4 last week, so the story is bound to get better...

All Sambug does is copy everyone else! The S4 will bankrupt them when they produce 100M and only sell like 35M. So long, Sukas!

Haha, the Optimus G Pro looks EXACTLY like the Note II, has the EXACT size and battery capacity, similar system sounds and functions, Flip Cover they call Quick Cover :), their copy of S-Beam and S-Voice - Q-Voice :) - and they call out Samsung for copying?

Oh the irony. Samsung could sue to socks off just for "Quick Cover" instead they made a better one.

The funny thing is that samsung fans complain about optimus g pro copying note 2. At the same time, they say it's completely okay that galaxy s copied some design elements from ipeople. Lg is not pitting out such a design for the first time. Be equal guys. Still i totally respect the fact that samsung didn't simply ran off to the court like the ipeople did.

They will sell 100millions, over the 7billions people around the world that is...

Sammy fans now are acting like a groupie bully, keep bashing other and using the sales figures to bash just to make themselves better, and they didn't realise that they are totalled up not even the billions, and the rest of the billions around the world is hating them now... Just like sheeple Apple fans' attitude three years ago...

Samsung bankrupt? You are stupid or what? Think twice when you write a comment like this! A companie like Samsung which it's a conglomerate of various divisions, that in 2013 is in 2nd place in the ranking of the biggest companies of the world, only with Apple ahead! Some people are stupid, thinking that Samsung it's some s**t of companie.

You're wrong. Samsung already had the original ideas the whole time, people just copy them. Samsung just takes a little longer to implement the idea so it will work better than the alternatives. The original iPhone actually copied the galaxy S.

At 600+ they have 400+ markup.
Imaging what happens when that markup is reduced by $100
All others go bankrupt probably :)

Lg should go back to check why it's Lg Revolution and Lg G2 was the worst smartphones ever. If you have a patent then you should remember it. Why would their be a need to check anything??.

There you go, who's the thief now... Samsung takes other people's ideas and technologies as well, not just LG. Nokia's and Apple's as well. One example was Nokia came up with flexible screens first before Samsung did. But what made them successful is their marketing. I already see lots of people spreading in FB 'the galaxy S4 is octacore!" when it is not. Partly thanks to great marketing by Samsung. Most of the general public dont know how the new Exynos processor works, they only look at the numbers - specs.

Samsung fans starting thumbing down in 3, 2, 1... Oh, wait, it has started.

The Galaxy S4 does have the Exynos 5 Octa processor just not in the states.

It does have 8-cores, but only up to 4 runs at once, so it is still a quad core, because even at maximum performance the processor is also running on only 4 cores.

I would personally prefer the Snapdragon variant of the USA; because of Snapdragon's on board LTE chip.

"It does have 8 cores"

so it's octa-core

HURR ITS MARKETING DURRRRRR

But not all 8 cores are running. The performance of the processor is not from all the cores, hence calling it an octacore is misleading itself. It's not. Regardless of how it is being called number of cores is not equivalent to higher performance.

No. Samsung didn't lie.

You can read the documentation on Samsung website.
There are 3 implementations can be used
- "Quad-core switch": only two different states switching each other, quad-core A7 an quad-core A15
- "Power-house": At the max point, all 8 cores are running. Redundant core can be closed if there is no task needing it.
- "Paired core": Most likely implementation. Each A15 core is paired to an A7 core. The system will decide either to run depending on the task. So We can have A7-A7-A7-A7, A7-A15-A7-A7 to A15-A15-A15-A15. Each core has the independent clockrate,

Samsung said that all of them are available in Exynos Octa, but the implementation used depends on the firmware. Most likely only last one is used in GS4. But The "power-house" option may be available in a new Chromebook, because it is a PC.

i know samsung didnt lie, but it's their method of presenting a product, and the tendency of the general public to look straight at the specs without checking out the details make most people think it is a true octacore processor. We as gadget lovers look into deeper details than the general public.

look at this nokia fanboy claiming they came up with flexible screens first... just LOL

"The concept of developing a flexible displays was first put forth by Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Company). In the 1974, Nicholas K. Sheridon, a PARC employee, made a major breakthrough in flexible display technology and produced the first flexible e-paper display"

^ I was comparing to Samsung when i mentioned Nokia came up with flexible screens first, because the SUBJECT of the discussion of this topic is on SAMSUNG'S alleged copying of other's idea. The nutjob here is you.

Why would i bring up something off topic like who or which company came up with the first flexible screen? Of course i was referring the the topic, hence i was comparing only between Nokia and Samsung. That flexible display thingy in your link is not even applied on smartphones That is a flexible E paper display, not OLED.

seriously everyone knows your a massive android fanboy who loves to dish it out then when someone proves you wrong or show you as the idiot you are (happens everytime btw) you get your fanboy backup as you feel numbers wins not comment substance

second Nokia were talking of flexible screens before samsung yet you and other fanboys give credit to samsung for basically copying an idea from years before no matter who originally came up with it. samsung has a history of copying and rebranding to fit them

face it samsung are no different from apple, incorporate existing features and tech and you praise them as innovators

so yeah your the nutjob

Whatever i say about a company, whether bad or good, im still neutral most of the time, because when i bash or praise something i only use proven facts but 'true' fanboys like you do not accept facts and even try to twist the topic and call others a fanboy just because you are one yourself. You cant accept any negative remarks about your favorite product or brand. It was obvious from the beginning i was comparing only 2 companies as an example. When was the first flexible one invented never mattered, not the topic here.

Samsung's devices are great and the sales volume proves everything, but of course it's not perfect. I dislike the build quality so i went for other brands. For me i prefer to put my money into innovation, not godlike specs. If that smartphone has unique hardware or features not widely found in other products then it gets my attention more, regardless of what company made it, other deciding factors would be things like build quality or whether the manufacturer suck in providing OS updates.
