LG becomes second among cellphone manufacturers in the U.S.

LG Electronics MobileComm has risen to second position among cellphone manufacturers in the U.S. for the Q3 2005 in terms of shipment volumes, after selling 7.8 million devices all over the country, according to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker data. LG has also become first in respect of CDMA phones sales worldwide for the third quarter of 2005, increasing its market share to 5.1%. Meanwhile, the company's number one position in CDMA phones sales in the U.S is sustained. The LG CDMA models launched so far in 2005 are VX8100, MM-535, PM-225, VX9800. At the same time LG continues its growth on the GSM handsets market, significantly  increasing its share on the U.S. GSM market to 10.3% in the third quarter of 2005 (4.2% in Q2) and securing its number four position.
