LG X3 screams loudly with its quad-core CPU and ICS goodness - possible MWC debut

0. phoneArena posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:14

So far, it’s being reported that the LG X3 will feature that all too lovable quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, while a 4.7” 1280 x 720 display of some sort will accompany its larger than life status – and if that’s not enough, it’s packaged all within a 9mm casing...

Very thin and big screen and quad core. LG did a good job to pull that off.

3. Orbitman posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:26 11 6

and ICS too! but capacitive buttons? those are soooo last software version lol

31. jroc74 posted on 20 Jan 2012, 18:17 8

Its called choice...thats what Android is all about.

After having the G Nex for 2 weeks, its not all that great. The task launcher button and menu button in apps is nice tho.

33. shnibz posted on 20 Jan 2012, 22:25 2

I have a G Nex as well and i love not having any buttons! I had constant accidental button presses before this phone.

43. G2Noobin posted on 23 Jan 2012, 01:08

Did they pull it off or is it a rumour?

2. ecloguey posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:24 6 2

wow, go lg go..!!!

4. Guest_star posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:27 7 7

I hope the screen is some kind of OLED, but if not AH-IPS LCD is good too, read somewhere its better than SuperAMOLED HD :D

5. nb2six posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:34 8 13

LG really needs to just stick to feature phones.

36. ledbetterp3 posted on 21 Jan 2012, 05:22 13

Sorry, meant to thumbs you down, fag...

6. c.hack posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:36 14

Is this a rumor of a phone that may be previewed in a month?? Available in 2013 or 2014??

7. adjou posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:40 8 9

LG X3 will be the new LG Optimus 2X, a fail.

They should really take their time making a phone, first doesn't means the best!

11. Joshing4fun posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:53 6 2

I feel the same way. They always just throw these half-baked phones out there and they seem awesome. But it never works out well enough.

21. victo410 posted on 20 Jan 2012, 14:38 3

LG HUmmmm I will think twice before I buy a LG Smartphone again, I had a hard-time with the LG2x whatever was the name of that freekin phone.

37. eaxvac posted on 21 Jan 2012, 05:58 1

I feel that too, LG's phone have never been worth the value..

42. jbash posted on 21 Jan 2012, 19:16

they are pretty good at the low teir androids. the optimus s was a great phone minus the 2.3.3 hiccup

8. PimpStrong posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:44 15 2

Just when we were getting used to dual-core!!

9. fanesxx posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:45 5

we all know 2000mAh is NOT enough to get thru the day, and i'm talking about really using the phone, daliy

19. Rayzin posted on 20 Jan 2012, 13:54 6

If it has a Tegra 3 then it is supposed to use power more efficiently with the 5th core dedicated to low power consumption applications. I believe it will atleast last a day with that battery.

10. 9_HeLLs_oF_DrOid posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:46 1 1

Well, X3 does sound like a juicy piece of hardware ;)

12. ThomasFlowerchild posted on 20 Jan 2012, 12:56 5

They're all going for bigger screens, quad-core etc...

But camera-wise no-one seems to care? There is no evolution?!

8 megapixels? The LG renoir also had 8 megapixels, and is allready 4 years old or so...

I would love to see a phone with a crazy camera, even if that means it's not amazingly thin!

I know it's not about the megapixels... But in such a small device it is impossible to put in a good quality camera...

No-one seems to be interested in rivalling the Nokia N8, for some strange reason...

20. the_s2 posted on 20 Jan 2012, 14:14 2

Crazy camera means no more anorexic phones! N8 is slim to the extent with a digicam sized sensor...

23. biophone posted on 20 Jan 2012, 15:50 3

I will take thin what the phone camera's are at now are more then good enough for 99% of people anyway. For that 1% they will have a normal camera anyway.

13. ZEUS.the.thunder.god posted on 20 Jan 2012, 13:00 4 1

i would say good job done lg, atleast on papers as if now. lets wait n watch.

14. TechGeekpk posted on 20 Jan 2012, 13:10 2

Impressive hardware but LG should provide better camera quality with improved pixels...

15. mctcm posted on 20 Jan 2012, 13:32 2 3

does ICS even support quad core?

25. mctcm posted on 20 Jan 2012, 16:15 3 1

why is this thumbed down? its a legit question

35. gfresh404 posted on 21 Jan 2012, 05:17 1

I can fairly confidently say, "no freakin way." Most high video games don't even use more than 2 cores

16. MorePhonesThanNeeded posted on 20 Jan 2012, 13:33 2

Look nice, everyone is going thin. The new chic is thin with lots of screen real estate. Now lets hope LG has the software and hardware firing on all cylinders and they might have one mighty impressive phone on their hands. My only question is how well does that Tegra 3 perform with using power well? I certainly hope that Google does more to make sure that their OS uses power in the most efficient way, such as always going low power for anything that isn't needed for main phone functions. I'm also tired of programs that run in the background for no real reason and apps that don't have a dedicated stop function that also takes it completely out of RAM.

Heck the OS should have a feature that allows you to set exactly what programs you want launching upon powering up the phone and you should be able to save different launch settings like how Motorola has that profile selection thing on the Droid X and above phones. No hidden processes for any app that you downloaded from the market, apps should have a pro setting and casual that way you know whether or not to disable an app without making your phone unstable. Google should require that all apps allow the user to disable them if they so choose. I hate to disable an app and it somehow reboots itself, kind of like virus programs in windows.

I like Lg sometimes more that HTC. If they can keep good battery life and reception I would consider them for a phone. Their TV's a great though. I love my 50pz950 :)

26. Cwebb posted on 20 Jan 2012, 16:23 2 1

Blasphemy! Lol

18. lboogy82788 posted on 20 Jan 2012, 13:50 1

WOW! thats nice and I really like the slim design but I'm a Samsung and HTC fan so I will be saving up for either the GS3 or the Endeavor! But great none the less LG:)

22. taz89 posted on 20 Jan 2012, 15:21 4

i just think quad core is over kill for smartphones...lol not saying i mind but maybe they should stop trying to get the fastest cpu and start improving on getting the longest battery life...would love to see the day when smartphones can last 2 days of heavy usage(everything turned on,no power management, couple of hours of gaming, video, web browsing each).

24. biophone posted on 20 Jan 2012, 15:53 2 3

Yea there is nothing that my iPhone 4 can't do that I want it to. For android I can understand dual core but even a snapdragon dual core is fine for even android. Most people really don't need quad core some do of course but they are by far the majority. I would much rather have good battery life as well. Mostly people just want to brag about having the fastest phone.

27. Cwebb posted on 20 Jan 2012, 16:24 1

Do my sore eyes deceive me, or do I not see LTE o.O

28. KingKurogiii posted on 20 Jan 2012, 17:00 1

this is probably what will be the G3x on T-Mobile. they always get the goodies at MWC.

29. quesoesgrande posted on 20 Jan 2012, 17:23 3 2

I could almost drop my sensation for that butonly if its reasonably priced
Me likey

30. biophone posted on 20 Jan 2012, 17:31 1

I really like the design it has a very understated confidence about it. Great job LG but could you keep it stock? Or at least unlock the boot loader. I don't like the UI you guys use. Maybe the ICS version will be better.

32. RAIDERWILL posted on 20 Jan 2012, 20:34 1

I have been waiting for the Quads to arrive.. But I want to see * Choice * before I take the plunge.. and they have to be LTE on Verizon.. My Rom'ed / Go Laucher EX Droid Charge is more than enough for now...

34. gfresh404 posted on 21 Jan 2012, 05:15 2

I'm sorry but this seems like total overkill. Desktop computers can barely fully utilize 4 cores unless you are doing some serious rendering. Software simply isn't optimized to take advantage of the extra hardware. I knew this was where smart phones were inevitably going, guess I just didn't expect it so soon. I would try not to get all caught in the specifications as that's what most manufacturers are playing, a numbers game.

40. greathero1 posted on 21 Jan 2012, 11:15

Stop trying to make sense. They will shoot you down for it for sure lol.

38. louay_joumaa posted on 21 Jan 2012, 07:31

it's just on paper waiting for the real release ;)

39. phildroid posted on 21 Jan 2012, 09:21

i always use my smartphone for video calling at any given time. why don't LG produce a phone with at least 3mp cam on the front? i guess they will be THE first for such upgrade if they do so, maybe for the X3?

41. DigitalMD posted on 21 Jan 2012, 13:25 1

How about BLAH, we don't care about more mobile devices until cell carriers stop gouging us on data plans and stops tiering and throttling us to death?? How about we are not interested in high speed wallet robbers
