LG VN530 to replace the Cosmos VN250 for Verizon?
Two months ago Verizon Wireless released the LG Cosmos VN250, a budget friendly messaging device with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, which was based on Sprint's LG Rumor 2. Unfortunately, the LG Cosmos lacked some common features, such as an MP3 music player and EVDO for faster data transmission. Now just in time for summer comes a new model listed on the FCC site, the LG VN530. The site doesn't specify if the VN530 will have a touchscreen like the LG Rumor Touch, but it does list as features a camera, QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, MP3 player, and GPS. We'll keep you posted when we have more info on the LG VN530.

Not necessarily Godpapa, basically all of the 3G phones with some degree of multimedia capabilities require at least the $9.99 data pack, hence the Intensity and Cosmos being exempt. There are some 3G phones with multimedia capabilities (such as the Convoy) that were exempt, but those are the exceptions that prove the rule

that whole thing is stupid to me. Why require a data plan for anything thats not a smartphone. if someone is going to get a qwerty phone theyre most likely just going to text. i can see if the add on was optional but to require 10 bucks for dumb phones... come on. still ticked off about that.

I don't think this will replace the Cosmos because the Cosmos is out for those who don't want a data plan but a good messaging phone.
