LG Spectrum 2 brings a 4.7" True HD screen, Snapdragon S4 and ICS to VZW for just $100

In the midst of all this Nexus 4 and WP8 noise, Verizon Wireless didn't want to be left out of the limelight. The leading US carrier has just introduced a new addition to its line-up, and it's by no means a slouch - the LG Spectrum 2...

It's actually the same phone, they just made it compatible with the VZW network.
....and besides, even if you get a VZW nexus you won't feel like it's a Nexus save for the fact that it's running stock. You'd still end up wishing for faster updates. (not trolling, just stating fact)

Verizon's model has a slot for a memory card, the Nexus 4 doesn't. Deal-breaker for me. :(

nexus 4 has quadcore snapdragon. this has dual core

There's a bigger difference than just the number of cores. S4 Pro also has Adreno 320 graphics, which is a huge improvement over what's in the S4. The cores in the S4 Pro probably also have better IPC, though I've not seen any tests confirming this yet.

I'll just stay away from LG for now. Their last few phones haven't been all that, and with the Nexus 4 lacking LTE, it just won't be for me. Besides, I'm on Verizon and not switching so the Nexus 4 couldn't be mine if I wanted it anyway.
That said, if I was on a provider that had HSPA+, I'd give the Nexus 4 a serious look.

The fact that their past devices were not so fascinating doesn't mean that their current devices will follow the suit... Nexus 4 is the fastest smartphone in the planet right now... Its only achilles heel is the lack of enough local storage memory... I agree with the LTE part though

Yeah, me too. I was hoping more for the Optimus Blaze that was rumored. I guess it will either be the upcoming HTC phone or the Note 2.

LG has really improved on their ICS UI and the Nexus 4 is running stock 4.2, which looks extremely impressive and smooth. There's no clunky bloaty UI over this device, the S4 Pro quad core processor with 2gbs of RAM will also make sure if that. Despite how I have felt about LG in the past, this is the most impressive Nexus by far.

I wonder though, does the availability of this device mean there won't be a Verizon Optimus G? The specs are so similar on the surface. We on PA know the S4 Pro with 2 GB RAM trounces this, but the specs customers notice are otherwise similar. I think VZW is sticking with its buddies HTC and Moto for flagships.

nah, this'll probably just be LG's entry into the mid-range market.

I don't know. Verizon puts a lot of stock in marketing. Last year the Rezound was all but ignored to make room for the Razr marketing blitz. iPhone, Droid Razr and Galaxy S3 are so much easier to market. LG is likely to be relegated to their midrange, despite this beating the screen size and quality of the Razr M and DInc 4G.

Not bad specially if buying full retail, you know keeping unlimited you have no choice.
