LG Phoenix 2 receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update at AT&T

The LG Phoenix 2, also known as the LG K8, made its debut at AT&T exactly one year ago. It was one of the many mid-range smartphones shipping with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, as Google was still working on making Nougat official.

However, soon after Google introduced the new Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, LG announced some of the mid-range smartphones would be updated to the latest version.

One of these devices, the LG K8 is now getting upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat at AT&T. As mentioned earlier, customers in the United States know the LG K8 as the Phoenix 2, so if you own this particular handset, then you should start checking for the new update.

According to AT&T, the update brings both the Android 7.0 Nougat OS and Firefox browser. Also, the April security patch will be installed on the smartphone as well.

One of the many apps and services considered bloatware by many users will be completely removed upon upgrading to Android 7.0 Nougat. In this case, it's the AT&T Address Book that's going away.

The update weighs in at 1.37GB, and it's delivered OTA (over the air), so make sure you have enough free storage before attempting to update your LG Phoenix 2 to Android 7.0 Nougat.
