LG Optimus G official Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update starts rolling out... in Korea

0. phoneArena posted on 11 Jan 2013, 06:12

While not exactly by the end of last month as promised, LG still started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for its current flagship handset, the Optimus G. The update starts in LG's homeland of South Korea, of course, rolling for both the version for LG U+ (the "L" variant") and SK Telecom (the "S" variant) carriers there...

They have started rolling 4.1.2 update now, God knows when Optimus G users will get jellybean 4.2 update. If the updates is so slow for their flagship phones then we can only guess the condition of other smartphones from LG........... LG should start hiring some good software engineers now...........

4.2 is not good. Maybe they want to skip 4.2...

In your opinion, what's not good in 4.2?

9. bigstrudel posted on 11 Jan 2013, 16:43

Pretty minimal change in 4.2 really. I just cant figure out a way to use lockscreen widgets to improve my experience. Plus it doesnt run as stable on my N7 as 4.1.2 did.

My Optimus G runs like a champ on ICS. Project Butter is a waste on the S4 Pro; but Im looking forward to Google Now.

who is "they" for rolling out 4.1.2? from my understanding, only korea has released this update & sprint/att wont see anything for a month or two.

as @unscrew said, the only custom roms that have been released on xda or other android forms are modded versions of ics stock. i think there are some devs close to getting cm10 running though... well see.

only thing my lgog is missing is photo sphere. ported & patched versions crash even with correct file perms...

I cannot wait for that update...project butter won't make much difference on a quad core but Google now is key

hope to get it soon

My AT&T LGOG has been rooted and unlocked for over 2 months and the only roms available have been ICS. We've been waiting for news like this......Hopefully US gets firmware soon!!!

This is great news. I love my optimus G. My only beef is the battery is not the greatest. Actually it's far from the greatest. If LG want to compete they have to make these updates. Also some new skins for the messenger that don't look like s**t would be nice too.
