LG Optimus G hands-on

For all of you who waited long enough to see 4G LTE connectivity with quad-cores, the wait is over. LG just officially unveiled the world’s first device based on the new Qualcomm S4 Pro system on a chip, which, as you can guess, combines the goodness of a quad-core CPU with that of LTE. The processor itself is clocked at 1.5 GHz and is complemented by the Adreno 320 graphics processor. Needless to say, the device here on the floor was extremely snappy. The expectation for it is to be one of the fastest phones available on the market today...

Looks great, but I hope they realese it internationally sooner than a few months... If this thing arrives in December or Janurary, all the buzz will be for naught. By that point we'd be likely to see a new Nexus, plus the full launch of the iPhone 5.

Great processor, ruined by LG's hardware and software. A shame. Samsung or HTC would have done a much better job of it.

Something makes me think that Sammy and HTC will do a better job than LG (aka Note II and 1X 5). Stay tuned for the next advance in Android flagship phones.

So now its a great processor...
Can you please tell me your thoughts on "LG's Hardware". I'm interested in knowing specifically what hardware you speak of Since the only only hardware Im aware of on this device is the IPS LCD screen that LG manufactures.
The processor and LTE radios are by Qualcomm. The CMOS sensor for the 13MP camera is by Sony. The RAM is presumably by Samsung (since LG is not known for producing memory modules), Graphics are by Adreno... Just wondering if you are talking about the PCB because thats not really hardware, just what puts it all together.

I know that this device has awesome specs..but I don't really like the look of the device..Also I don't like LG's UI..I don't know if they made it better in this device or not..

I meant the look of the back of the device..
Another thing..the battery offers just 14 hours of stand-by time..that means I should charge it twice a day like my Sensation XE.

why are these people are so power hungry... no wonder we are curse!

Agree...It's not about having the best specs..it' about offering smooth UI and running apps smoothly.

so true!!! not gonna compare or anything but atleast symbian is really fluid with old generation ARM chips... oh well, we live in a curse world that is to be hungry for power always! so sad...very sad!

not so smooth, I'm afraid. My N8 shows constant lag after using Web/Navigation/Camera for prolong period of time. I have to restart phone to regain proper functionality. And yes, I did full reinstall SW.
I think S4 dual Krait are performing just as good and smooth as quads.
Those initial images don't look promising.... Can't wait to get my hands on Xperia T.

"but these first shots do look promising"
No they don't. None of the pictures is sharp. It's even worse than a cheap samsung mini. In fact even the 4XHD has sharper pictures while that has the worst camera o/t current 4 quad core high end models (SGSIII, HTC One X, Meizo MX and 4XHD)

Looking at GSMarena's photos taken with this phone, I see that just as here, pictures taken indoors suck big time. No sharpness at all, they look like if the camera is broken. My ancient K550i had similar photos. Hell even my current Nokia 701 (EDoF camera) has sharper photos.
Thankfully outside pictures are a lot better. Stil disapointing for a 13Mpixel shooter though. I guess that I'll go for a 808 pureview when they become somewhat cheaper. And no I don't care for Nokia WP-efforts (been there, done that, didn't like it) because that's not pureview... thats fakeview (an ordinary BSI sensor with optical image stabilisation, doh).
Or I just keep what I have now (Nokia 701) and skip ALL this in 2012 and 2013. It's all too dissapointing.
A shame though since I was really looking forward to this model. Also Glass and plastic... doesn't seem premium class to me. LG still doesn't get it. High end edevices have to FEEL high end too.
BTW. I couldn't care less about 4G since 3G is a mess (and not fully covered on most parts of my country)
There's no WOW-factor.
