LG Optimus G battery life is better than the Samsung Galaxy S III, claims an LG experiment
0. phoneArena posted on 16 Oct 2012, 04:24
The tests were presumably done on equal footing - 50% screen brightness, full battery charge, with both phones connected to LG's U+ LTE network. The results are as follows - 15.8 consecutive hours of talk on the Optimus G, compared to 9.5 hours on the Galaxy S III. Optimus G also recorded and played videos for 3.8 hours and 7.9 hours, respectively, whereas the Galaxy S III managed 2.8 hours recording and 7.3 playback...

And I'd take a Super AMOLED with its deep blacks any day over LG's "True HD" display. The SAMOLED on the GNex with its all black design on the front is just stunning to look at :|

Well Optimus G doesn't have TrueHD IPS display Thats a year old display.
It has Super IPS+ Display get your facts right.

Okay, it's a TrueHD IPS+ display, but it still isn't going to have as deep blacks as an SAMOLED.
Not saying the display is bad, but SAMOLED's blacks have spoiled me, LCD displays just can't match it no matter how good they might be. :(

The 3310 has the best blacks of all phones.

i'am willing to trade deep blacks for a brighter and sharper screen. i also do a lot of browsing and reading, so LG's screen would be easier on the battery in that regard. i think it's a matter of taste though when you are choosing between the two.

I'd take a full RGB anyday.. the S-LCD in my Desire S looks sharper than the SuperAMOLED in the One S.. Despite the same resolution..

Also, 28nm processor on the Optimus G vs 32nm on S3, so not sure how much this battery test means. But good to see the Optimus G having great battery life.

I personally think is because of the type of battery... Optimus g is using li-polymer battery which is better than the traditional... Correct me if I'm wrong...

and battery type shouldn't affect the aforementioned benchmarks. Battery type only matters in the long term use, and of course also in the weight.

4X HD uses Li po and it was the worst overall performer (among quadcores ) in battery tests conducted by gsmarena, but it has a good standby time( hence better endurance rating).
In general Lithium polymer battery is good for light usage and lithium ion is good for heavy usage.

PA really is advertising LG. Not that it's bad. It's good especially since you mention that from time to time the article is sponsored by LG.
I just hope PA gets the consumer's cries to LG directly: software. updates.

Both test "presumably" done at equal settings then its a good result for LG. However their boast is nothing to be overjoyed at as the s3 is on sale around 4 months now so they battery tech in it is at least 8 months old if you take the date the s3 was fully completed in design stages. If Samsung releases a new galaxy in 6 months time its quite easy to suggest that this should have better battery tech than the optimus being released right now

LG has a batter battery management as it uses newer S4 28mn tech compared to 32mn by samsung all there is to it

32nm with HKMG, 28nm with Sion/Poly. do you understand?.

I guess I'm just supposed to take LG's unbiased word on this. Gimme a break. LG is not exactly known for efficiently optimized software to extend battery life. I'll believe it when I see some independently run tests.

As much as I love the specs on this phone, I'm not too sure about LG's UI. It still can't match TouchWiz in terms of intuitiveness and simplicity.
33. jan25 posted on 16 Oct 2012, 11:52 0 0
that's really expected with a battery efficient processor and screen technology. hopefully the Nexus 4 will do even better with a better optimized software without LG's crappy skin.
