LG Optimus G Pro hands-on
We sat with LG this morning to explore its newest Optimus G Pro flagship that will carry the battle with the Xperia Z, HTC One and Galaxy S IV behemoths and here are our initial impressions.

How does a 5.5" 1080x1920 Full HD IPS-LCD screen sound to you? It looks gorgeous, and you can't really tell there is a lower 401ppi pixel density than the 5-inchers out there. It is with vibrant colors and great viewing angles.

This is not bad for a start, but LG also throws in a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 with LTE radio, which powers the interface with ease, adding to the 2 GB of RAM, 13 MP rear camera and 2 MP front one capable of 1080 video high end features. We have some camera samples for you here.

We saved the best for last - the 5.5" Optimus G Pro sports a giant 3,140 mAh battery, 32 GB of internal memory and a microSD slot for cards up to 64 GB.

It is quite a largish handset to hold, though it is rather thin at 9.4mm, but that's to be expected from a 5.5-incher, however it feels a bit slippery with that glossy back that has a patterned look all around, hinting at a glass chassis similar to the Optimus G

The phone is quite compact for the screen size and with minimal bezel on the sides, aiding the slender profile, yet it feels larger than the Galaxy S III we had handy, so check out the comparison picks in the slideshow below.

Dat arrangement, speaker, camera and light, is a straight copy from the galaxy s3

nice try LG but Samsung remain the best here

Actually the older design of LG Optimus phones resemble the galaxy more. But now I think LG tries to differentiate from Samsung with their new models

But with a bigger battery, faster processor, high mp camera, and glass (not Plastic) design.

Will it perform as well as the Note? Doubt it.

In the first LG Optimus G video you see a lot of lag .
Lag in 0:31, 1:14, 1:25, 1:29 time .
That's because LG Optimus G or because Android ??

LG. And you can take a very long nap waiting for their updates...

A copy of the Galaxy Note II.... with the One X camera on the back.

ok LG that was unimpressive...apart from the screen being 1080p there's no real difference in hardware from the awesome Note 2...the bacl looks more glossy than the Note 2....and the most importantly this thing does not have half the unique software features found on the Note 2!

So why would anyone in their right mind buy this? the Note 2 blows this out of the water with software alone becuase its not a phone...its so much more! And lets not get started with the Note 3...

Moreover I smell a lawuit coming up as the front is too similar to the Note 2 as well...I am not in favor of a lawsuit but I smell it coming

Super nice! Huge battery, buttery smooth! Can't see any downsides to this as of yet....need to see some camera shots.

2013 is gonna be great for android!

3. mr.techdude posted on 25 Feb 2013, 05:44 6 1

Cough cough I would never look at any lg device ever period, mate u get this might be good in first couple of months and booomm days it lg has forgotten this device, no updates no nothing

5. drpain posted on 25 Feb 2013, 05:46 2 7

android has matured. no need for constant huge updates

25. TMach posted on 25 Feb 2013, 13:00 1

A downside? It is LG........ sold my LG Optimus 4 HD after a week and CEX couldn't shift it even though it was not yet released in the UK as I bought it from Amazon.de! No resale value is also a killer added to non existent updates! Pass, methinks!!

Love the screen specs and slim bezel but the ui looks to lag a little in places on that video

7. nikenturd (unregistered) posted on 25 Feb 2013, 05:55 2

benchmarks are pretty low for a flagship device...13k + only on Antutu? what the hell happened there? im not shitting look it up on google

9. pellegrini posted on 25 Feb 2013, 06:26

The front is okay, but the back is ugly IMO.

11. cloud_atlas1991 posted on 25 Feb 2013, 06:38

It didn't quite make a stir like how HTC and Sony did with their flagships.

14. henrickrw posted on 25 Feb 2013, 06:46 6

This doesn't have achance againste the Note 2 No way. Even Droid DNA is better.

15. papss posted on 25 Feb 2013, 06:50

Why LG? Your other designed phones look so good but this? No thanks.. I would think I had a SS phone if I had this..

16. JunitoNH posted on 25 Feb 2013, 06:54

Only thing missing from the device, project butter; new device such lag.

17. Reverence posted on 25 Feb 2013, 07:13 3

Nothing cool...I dont know why these people are not understanding that it's not only about GHz or MegaPixels...they need to put new things in the OS like samsung's multi windows, smart stay and so on.... so i think S3 is still better and note 2 is still the king

19. Bedz81 posted on 25 Feb 2013, 07:47 3

Screens are getting larger by the day, at least have some features like the Note 2. Otherwise an impressive looking phone and not half baked

34. iDroid8 posted on 27 Feb 2013, 12:11

HTC One is there to put an end to ever increasing screen size and camera resolution-decreasing both from its predecessor

20. redmd posted on 25 Feb 2013, 08:02

wouldnt it be more fitting if you compare the optimus g pro versus the note 2 Ray?

22. jackhammeR posted on 25 Feb 2013, 08:23 2 3

boring, ugly, too big...

28. AceStorm1249 posted on 26 Feb 2013, 14:37

I thought this was a Note 2 before reading the title...

31. funkshit posted on 27 Feb 2013, 08:04

Touching screen while downloading and installing programs? See the upper bar on the screen with arrow on it. isn't it unfair for showing a new product?

Umm....dont you think this should be compared to the note 2 instead.... O.o

35. tha.fox posted on 28 Feb 2013, 15:34
