Except the screen blows Galaxy S2 screen out of proportions. I actually laid my hands on both phones today and the display on the LG is just phenomenal, it's a 4.5 inch version or the iphone's "retina" display. It makes the S2 screen and it's dull yellowish tint and lower resolution look like crap.

really? considering LG had the world's first full touch screen phone tt utilized the capacitive touch display.. considering they had a touch screen phone before Samsung did, and all Samsung did was take LG's UI and put it on to their own phones... touchwiz looks like Optimus UI (aka S Class UI). Look at your Samsung Jet and look at the LG Cookie. The LG Cookie's UI looks very much like what the Optimus UI looks like now whereas the Samsung Jet uses the older UI and both phones are released about the same time. Look at the first LG touch screen phone's UI and look at Samsung's first touch screen phone UI. They look exactly alike :O and LG came up with a touch screen phone before Samsung. AND FYI Phonearena posted an article about the Prada phone by LG 1.0, it said that is the phone that many phones today, including the I-Phone, is based on. SO if Samsung steals from Apple, it indirectly steals from LG. the only reason why ppl say LG copies Samsung is bcos Samsung devices are more widely distributed than LG's. so your post should go like this:
Samsung steals from LG
Samsung steals from Apple
Apple steals from LG & Tech Market

I have a gut feeling that the display is amazing on this phone. I have seen the HTC rezound and Nexus 720p display, and wasn't 100% impressed. The nexus matrix pixels start messing with the eyes on small fonts and rezound screen's color is slightly dull and viewing angles are still poor. I think IPS implementation will benefit significantly to the quality of this HD display.

not a bad looking phone for an LG. I hope Verizon's LG revolution 2 is something similar with LTE.

The display looks pretty close to super AMOLED HD

No the display doesn't look close to the AMOLED HD, it actually beats it. Main reason is that on Samsung's AMOLED displays, they went back to pentile matrix, which theoretically displays worse resolution than specified. And second, amoled still have the yellowish tint instead of bright white on their displays.

John V. it's an AH-IPS LCD display. Some people like me will prefer it over super AMOLED.

I used to brag about amoled, trying to give it credit for color vividness, until I got a HTC sensation with a qHD display with standard RGB pixel layout and now I don't wanna look back at amoled (amoled plus, etc.).
The retina featuring IPS technology is even more impressive with much better contrast and viewing angles than my qHD display. The amoled matrix pixel layout is just not eye friendly, colors are over saturated and don't look real, and most amoled screens although claiming limitless contrast ratio lack the bright white color which practically puts their "praised contrast ratio" to waste. The amoled's white color spectrum is dull and usually "yellower" or "bluer" than normal. So hands down I believe 720p IPS LCD display wins!
