LG Nitro HD benchmark tests

0. phoneArena posted on 02 Dec 2011, 11:57

Right away, we’re averaging Quadrant scores between the 2,000 and 2,600 marks, which aren’t stellar to say the least, but more in line to being average. Naturally, with its 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, we would’ve liked it to see it obtain scores over the 3,000 mark...

That's why I hate rapid progress. The don't do enough to optimize hardware with software and even with dual core you can see lags. Silly!

5. networkdood posted on 02 Dec 2011, 12:33 5 3

RAZR has no lag...

11. tomast posted on 02 Dec 2011, 14:58 3

razar has no 720p display sooo why would there be lag

14. networkdood posted on 02 Dec 2011, 21:09 1

Pretty sure it has 720p display.

16. networkdood posted on 02 Dec 2011, 21:11 1

Chinese ones do....nm

21. amkang posted on 03 Dec 2011, 01:10

i'm pretty sure it doesn't.

don't quote me on it though.

17. networkdood posted on 02 Dec 2011, 21:11

wow, and my captivate does have 720p....that is funny.

20. avataranjie posted on 03 Dec 2011, 00:20 3

The nitro has a 720p SCREEN RESOLUTION meaning 1280x720. A very high density screen. The 720p on the captivate you're talking about is most likely the camera's capability of shooting at 720p... it only has a 800x480 screen resolution.

24. remixfa posted on 04 Dec 2011, 09:13 2

the captivate does not have 720p.

the first US 720p screen is the Galaxy Nexus, then you have the Galaxy Note (see a pattern.. lol), and now these guys.

The first problem with the phone.. come on.. who knows what im going to say..... is that crapdragon processor in it. No matter what people want to believe, it does not have the horsepower to push the phone. Ya cant blame this one on Sense or a strong overlay as LG overlays are nothing more than an app launcher and a few custom apps. Crapdragon processors just are not up to snuff when compared to ANY other dual core on the market.

Heck your captivate at 1.5ghz runs better than that crapdragon at 1.5ghz. :)

The first U.S. 720p screen is not the galaxy nexus nor the galaxy note. It's the htc rezound. Galaxy nexus and the galaxy note didn't even come out in the u.s. yet...

8. andro. posted on 02 Dec 2011, 13:11

its still in progress software but lg isn't reknown as a top phne manufacturer all the same so top level performance isn't probably guaranteed

2. networkdood posted on 02 Dec 2011, 12:29

it has slow SD card read/write speeds, but good 3D, CPU and RAM scores.

3. jamrockjones posted on 02 Dec 2011, 12:29 3

That's his experience, mines been nothing but smooth. I love it.

It seems with the introduction of ICS, benchmarks have become irrelevent? Could this be an era where smartphones are judged in terms of usability and not numbers!

The Qualcomm chip is not to blame as the Sensation XL UI is smoother and that thing has a 1.5GHz S2 with Adreno 205 graphics so if HTC can make it smooth I don't see why LG can't

6. roldefol posted on 02 Dec 2011, 12:41 2

I think in this dawning era of HD screens, GPUs will be more relevant than pure CPU muscle. I wonder how the SGS2 would perform with a 720p screen...

7. nboatr posted on 02 Dec 2011, 12:42

THE REAL QUESTION IS it worth it to us to switch from at&t Samsung and HTC. because of LG's really bad updating history, in order for me to purchase this phone -LG will have to come out with a ICS time-frame statement as to when they will update the ice cream sandwich update NOW! i like the phone but i dont trust LG update policy. We need to know that after our purchase will LG, CARE and supply us with regular updates? or will they take the money and forget about there customer base?

9. KingKurogiii posted on 02 Dec 2011, 13:44

that's consistent with scores we should be seeing from a 1.5GHz S3. i'm surprised it held out powering a 4.5" 720p IPS display.

Why did the device get a 0 in the 2d graphics on antutu? My ocd g2x can top 7200 on antutu. xD

12. samda posted on 02 Dec 2011, 15:48

remixfa, how do you explain this thing beating the sII in antutu?

25. remixfa posted on 04 Dec 2011, 13:01

link please.

they compared it to the galaxy nexus, not the galaxyS2 for antutu in the article.

13. Forsaken77 posted on 02 Dec 2011, 16:46

Looks like this phone slightly beat the GNxs and the GS2 on Antutu tests, and that's with a 0 for 2D graphics.

15. networkdood posted on 02 Dec 2011, 21:10 2

My phone, the RAZR beats the SGS2 in this benchmark - but you have to look at the categories scored.

18. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 02 Dec 2011, 21:55 2

I have seen Samsung single core devices run smoother than some dual core phones. It has to do with software more than hardware. Samsung has optimized their software very well to run smoothly. While Sense is a power hog and LG seems no different.

19. dmn666 posted on 02 Dec 2011, 22:36 1 1

Why'd they even expect this to beat GS2 on quadrant? GS2 comes with a crappy WVGA resolution and quadrant is an even crappier benchmark app.

22. kindkin posted on 03 Dec 2011, 09:32

Quadrant seems more and more unreliable... My bro Evo 3D only runs 1800 +/-... Are you kidding that a 1.2Ghz duo corer only runs that low? i dont believe, and i believe that Nitro 3D can do more than that... a lot more than that.

23. KingKurogiii posted on 03 Dec 2011, 11:45 1

the EVO 3D averages around 2000. the scores you see here for the Nitro are around the best a 1.5GHz S3 can achieve and it's probably a little easier for the Nitro to achieve because of it's lighter interface. i'd say the very best the 1.2GHz S3 in your EVO 3D can achieve is like 2200-2300.
