LG G2 manual leaks: lock key on the back, nano SIM and microSD slots, removable battery

0. phoneArena 05 Aug 2013, 07:35 posted on

We are eagerly anticipating Wednesday's launch of the LG G2, which should finally start a new debate on the aging ergonomics of Android handsets' navigation and side buttons, that have been conceived for much smaller handsets than the giants we have now. Newly leaked schematics show indeed that the three buttons on the back underneath the camera area are volume and power/lock keys. If LG had thrown in a back button somewhere handier than all the way down on a huge display, we'd be completely sold...

S4 weather widget? Oh boy...

And OLED display? I thought they were using IPS+?

They are using IPS. At least, if you look at image #3 you can see it say LCD On/Off.

So in order to show that window the whole screen will need to be backlit. I don't think it's a big problem though because it's not like Active Display where it will keep blinking. You still press the power button to show it so it'll be fine.

Sorry LG but it seems like you got rid of everything you did right with the LG Optimus G.

The dimensions are way too big, not a fan of on screen buttons, and not sold on the buttons being on the back.

Also I know people in Asia complained about the Optimus G not having a removable battery and micro SD card slot, but you are going to get worse by the dumb North Americans that think plastic is poisonous to touch for some reason.

I like that LG decided to give access to the battery and MicroSD card slot. The only other one that seems to do that for high-ends is Samsung these days.

I like the Optimus G, but lets face it. It didn't do well at all for a flagship. I like the back buttons honestly because it feels neutral so that it doesn't alienate left handed or right handed people.

It still doesn't solve the problem of having to scoot the phone around in your hand to reach the bottom on-screen buttons though. Even a slight bump from a stranger could send your phone flying because you can't grip it well while reaching for those buttons.
