LG G Flex photo is leaked; will phone be graded on the curve?
0. phoneArena 14 Oct 2013, 00:02 posted on
The LG G Flex is the rumored moniker of LG's curved screen phone that is expected to see the light of day soon; this, of course, comes after the recent introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Round, the curved screen handset from LG's Korean rival. As you can see from the trio of renders below, both Samsung and LG have taken different approaches to the curved screen...

First of all, if you think there is "no use bending it this way" then I suppose you thought that this was useless:
Turns out there was a use for it: it allowed the microphone to be closer to your mouth when you talked on the phone.
Also, the Nexus S had a slightly curved screen which users felt was more comfortable to use both for calling and texting.

Dr. Phil ur not carrying that corded phone in ur pocket tho.. And no one is having problems hearing people talk on the phone so why does the mic position matter

Really? No one is having problems hearing people talk on the phone? I'm pretty sure there have been times in your life where you have had to hug your phone to your face in order to talk to someone, most likely because you were in a loud environment.
Also, I think you're over-dramatizing the curvature of the display and how you think it will feel in your pocket. For starters, a lot of people put their phones in the back pocket so it's not that big of a deal but even in the front pocket you can move it slightly to the side so that it follows the natural curve of your thigh.
EDIT: I also suggest you wait until the device is actually released and you try it out before making any negative judgments.

If u cant hear sum1 in a noisy environment its not because the person on the other end of the phone is not talking into the mic its because its too loud where ur at people speak loud enough i have trouble hearing and half the time i can hear other people's phone calls from across the room.. Its a gimmick ill leave it at that if i ever see anyone with a phone like this ill prolly laugh right in there face! samungs design is even dumber whats the excuse u got for that one?

I don't have an "excuse" for their design, I am speaking about this LG device. Also looking at how you type your comment, I am going to end this conversation because there is no use discussing an issue with someone who types like they are still in middle school or high school.

Well then how about u come up with a logical reason not some dumb idea about it putting the mic closer to your mouth. ill wait for u to get one then u can tell me how great this feature is when ur walking around with a hump in ur pocket and cant sit down in fear of cracking ur phone. And stop thumbing your own comments up u tool!

Photo 2 looks just like the Samsung teaser for the Galaxy Nexus.

Somewhat... but the actual Galaxy Nexus featured a very subtle curve that actually made some ergonomic sense.
THIS LG device looks to be an ergonomic mess as the curvature is far to extreme, especially for something with a (rumored) 6 inch display.

You have no shame! How dare you insult bananas! :D

Looking at that curve you I dont think u wanna put it in your pocket... just open your zip and put it in... should fit perfectly... o_0

So how did it feel in your hands and pocket?

Do share the experience of using Samsung Galaxy Round. Or you're a hater.

They are haters who don't know anything. If someone tossed them an unbranded device with stock android then said Samsung made it they would say its the worst thing they ever used.

For Samsung haters:
Better than Galaxy Round
If I were to choose between the 2, I'd go for this LG

Preach! I do have to admit to being a Sammy fanboy, but the ignorance is so annoying. Until someone has used each phone extensively, I will assume they hate Samsung.

Unbiased: I think both are a fail, it will take time before they get the right curve but these are way to curved. The only use of a flexible screen is durability in phones. Maybe in 10 years it will be possible to make a fully flexible phone with functionality but for now no.
I have not used either so I have no opinion on how they feel yet.

Oh in this point this is gimmick. Just give us a powerful phone with great display, great camera, great battery life and great durability.

Unpocketable and how will this become a good companion in our hands.. duhh. It just looks good but too dumb lol

Hope they change the User Experience though on how Nokia did on their Nokia Kinetic device video. I hope its not just a curved screen. Why would they call it flex if its not flexing?

Galaxy Round has a better ergonomic design.
How shall we put such a thing in our pocket or even use it for a long time?
