LG Eclipse 4G LTE blocks out the sun at the FCC before moving on to Sprint

The LG LS970 has been spotted around town so its existence is no surprise; known as the LG Eclipse, the 4.67 inch screen on the unit might not block out the sun, but this handset has the specs to compete with the big boys including a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM...

Sounds great, but I'm just not sold on LG software & their update policies.

umm what software? you do realize LG uses stock Android just like the Nexus?
You are right about the update policies but theres always CyanogenMod for that.

Can't wait until we compare this to the international GS3...

only 2100 mAh for adreno 320?? Im not sure about that one......everything else sounds really good though...and this is going to literally blow the galaxy S3 away, some will be mad but its true this may be the next best phone.....pretty cool lg..........o wait and they didnt have to make it 4.7 to 5 inches either....hmmm some body should learn from them...
11. 305Bucko posted on 11 Aug 2012, 23:15 1 3
"only" 2100mah? that is exactly what the EVO LTE and the SG3 use and its just fine.
Not to mention that the S4 chip promises to deliver efficiency in power consumption.
You are right about blowing SG3 away though! And I also agree with not having to go with a bigger screen either.
13. XPERIA-KNIGHT posted on 12 Aug 2012, 03:51 0 0
the evo and the SG3 uses adreno 225 dude not adreno 320 *face palm*
and i disagree with you disagreeing with me about keeping it smaller.
17. KingKurogiii posted on 12 Aug 2012, 18:54 1 2
remember the S4 Pro is a Quad-Core as well so it should be more power efficient than the regular S4 regardless of the added power from Adreno 320.

ok well..........shame on me right? lol thanks man

lol nbd, we all need to have our memory's jogged every now and then. xD

This will definitely beat the S3 unless Samsung Note 2 will possess that that A15 processor then we'll have an even match. Otherwise, LG will "Eclipse" everyone in the competition. That HTC one X+ will just have an overclocked Tegra 3 processor. It will get behind. Its the Tegra 4 that we have to watch out.

the two best chips are going to be the S4 Pro and the new exynos chip hands down.....I like qualcomm though so I'll be sticking with them
18. KingKurogiii posted on 12 Aug 2012, 18:55 0 2
why do you like Qualcomm? they're behind like...everybody. xD
wait for the OMAP5 and the new Exynos Dual.
22. XPERIA-KNIGHT posted on 13 Aug 2012, 02:42 1 1
they're doing pretty good from what I see...Even the Galaxy S3 (american version) has the qualcomm chip so what are you talking about?
And I'm guessing the only reason why the international version has the exynos is because the S4 pro isn't or wasn't available at the time...
23. KingKurogiii posted on 13 Aug 2012, 03:33 0 1
Qualcomm's S4 is the only SoC right now that supports complex network technologies like LTE and HSPA+ 42mbps and isn't behind the curb.
even the S4 Pro is going to have a tough time with the likes of the OMAP5 and the Exynos Dual because they use actual ARM Cortex A15 architecture and the ever so impressive GPUs from Imagination Technologies and ARM in the forms of the PowerVR SGX544(MP4) and the Mali-T604. preliminary tests of the Adreno 320 only have it swapping blows with the SGX543(MP4) which has been around for nearly a year now and while those are just preliminary tests the OMAP5 will no doubt be using the improved SGX544(MP4) GPU so at best the S4 Pro will just swap blows with the OMAP5 in the graphics department but the OMAP5 will ultimately outclass the Pro with it's A15 architecture that i brought up earlier. same story with the new Exynos Dual but it's looking like the Mali-T604 can deliver even more graphics power and it has a two port LPDDR3-800 controller which has 12.8GB/s of memory bandwidth which means it'll probably have some pretty ridiculous data rates. if Qualcomm can get the S4 out by the end of the year then they will have done a great job this year but it's over when TI and Samsung come to play.

but thats dreaming man.......All the best phones that people are gonna have for awhile are most probably gonna be out before this year ends! and they all will, from the looks of it, have a qualcomm chip.....what phone are you expecting to have those new chips in them that you are actually gonna buy? And skip over whats coming out "this year"?

the Nexus is a good example. the OMAP line is the reference platform for Google so no doubt the next Nexus (or Nexuses) will use the OMAP5 and other than that i don't know but the Holidays usually never fail to bring surprises like last year's Droid Razr for instance.

LG coming out with a high-end device that can really step up to the competition? It's been a while since we've seen that. Phones like the Revolution, Spectrum, Thrill and Lucid really do stand out, but easily get eclipsed (no pun intended) by phones like the S III, One X and the Droid RAZR.
Hey, if the Eclipse (or whatever name they end up going with) works out, LG will really be a force to be reckoned with. If not, well, at least they tried.

Yeah OK sound great on paper but be serious this is LG. Samsung has nothing to worry about at all software alone will make the GALAXY S3 the BEST smartphone into 2012. The battery life on my Galaxy S3 is the greatest thing ever standby mode especially in the power saver mode I get 15 hrs heavy use and 25plus hrs light use. No other smartphone on the market can bet this other that the Droid Razr Maxx with that 3300 battery. Any other devices with 2100 or lower battery cannot standup to the Galaxy S3...Lg will find something to MESS UP this device.

I have a GS3 and an EVO LTE and personally, I don't think the software on the GS3 is that great. Touch Wiz is clunky and not well though out IMO. Sense makes a lot more "sense", it is deeply integrated into the OS but actually improves the experience, it is well thought out where TW seems like a bunch of different features thrown together. Sense is also a much more refined and aesthetically professional UI, TW does look too cartoony.
25. XPERIA-KNIGHT posted on 13 Aug 2012, 04:44 1 0
See, I wish more people knew this! Because alot of people are raggin on "sense" in the one series and just upholdin the galaxy S3 like its the most untouchable smartphone in the world and without any flaws whatsoever.....I looked at a comparison today of those two phones and the dude in the vid actually wasnt being biased at all but pointed the flaws in the Evo (which was less than the S3) but also the major flaws in the design of the S3 and its screens blueish tint.....After the comparison I pretty much ended up thinking the same way people do about the S3 (best thing ever) but having those thoughts for the Evo 4g Lte! to me the evo is the best phone out hands down! I wouldn't think twice about getting the Evo over the galaxy S3... Just wish it wasnt on Sprint only!......... :(

Its on at&t too, the only difference I can think of is Sprint's has the micro sd slot. Not really a deal breaker.
