LG E970 for AT&T with Adreno 320 GPU comes out on top of graphics benchmarks

0. phoneArena 28 May 2012, 08:25 posted on

The specs also list HD 1280x768 pixels display and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and we've heard before that the Sprint version - LG LS970 "Eclipse" - of this new LG flagship might feature 2GB of RAM, like the LG Optimus LTE 2, and sport a quad-core processor, so that's what could be in store for AT&T's version as well. We doubt it, though, since the APQ8064 looks destined for tablets, as it doesn't have an integrated modem, and its might would be pretty pointless in a phone anyway...

Can't wait for this to land on phones/tablets this year just to see how it performs.

"but it is only slightly better than the 6646 score of the Samsung Galaxy S III"

that is just sad!!!! adreno gpu is a POS even worst is that adreno 225 in the SG3

on par with LAST YEAR's mali400...

prolly one of the reasons why rushing mali 605 in SGS3 is not necessary

Oh you mean take the craptastic, ugly, and laggy LG UI? Or maybe the uninspired, cheap, and ugly hardware? Oh oh and what about their constant bugs and lack of updates? Yup I'd rather not take any of that thanks.

And you're only pointing at LG? Hahahaha Prove it.

Tell me your biased answers.

Go to there list of phones and tell me how many of them score higher then the Gs2 then go back and see how bad the software was when they so eagerly threw the G2X at consumers, just like nVidia first out the gate and first back at the drawing board.

Past is past, look at their innovations now.

It's not like other companies didn't encounter any problems right?

One innovation that hasn't seen the light of day in a consumers hand is hardly anything to point out and of coarse not that's why I compared them to nVidia

optimus black, maybe you should handle a non-lg product, and judge for yourself.

i thought lg was great too, i loved my optimus one and g2x. now that i have my evo 3d i realize the lgs were horribly buggy.

just my .02

Hahaha I've handled a lot of phones by borrowing, or from testing in stores.

I'm not saying LG is the best but if you would consider how they continue innovate in the mobile industry like with the first Capacitive screen, first no glassed 3d and even a 2GB ram phone.

If they had not implemented these into mobiles, others would have not implemented them too.

I'd even want to have a Galaxy Nexus though I'm gonna want to keep using LG to show my support for them.

Ever since I got my LG Cookie I've followed how the mobile tech has developed. From 200 MHz Feature phones to Quad core Androids.

Yes I'm pointing at LG for being exceptionally terrible in those categories :) Name 5 LG phones that have been updated at least once in the past year... Name 3 LG phones that haven't been plagued by bugs again and again. Name 1 LG phone (not counting the prada) that actually had a design and build quality that wasn't plastic through and through.

Samsung may use plastic but at least their plastic is durable. At least Samsung phones aren't plagued by bugs and atleast Samsung updates their phones.

HTC's build quality is better than Samsung's and LG's put together. Its UI is much less intrusive now and actually looks beautiful and polished compared to Samsung's and LG's UI. Not only that, HTC is best with updates.

Motorola's build quality is on par with HTC. They have excellent radios and excellent hardware. True, Motorola phones aren't updated much but at least they arent plagued by the bugs that LG phones have. The only thing LG beats Motorola in is in screens and just recently processors.

LG can flaunt all the most amazing hardware they want but until they start supporting their phones rather than releasing phone after phone, they aren't going to succeed. They need to polish their UI and hire a designer that can use his/her eyes and knows what good design is.

They've learned from their mistakes and had minimized problems to a considerable amount. ^_^

What, so LG licensed out the use of a Qualcomm GPU and it makes them a great handset maker? I'm sure HTC and Samsung will be using the exact same GPU in their upcoming phones that have better build-quality and better user-interfaces than LG.

Kudos to LG for its recently-unveiled 5 inch 1080p LCD display with 440ppi though. That's most likely the screen HTC will be using in its phablet coming this fall.

That's like saying kudos to Toshiba for unveiling 6" 2560 x 1600 display last year or kudos to samsung for unveiling multiple wqxga resolution displays last year. Neither have ended up in a product yet

Yes, but unlike the 6" Toshiba display, rumors abound about at least one device with a 5" 1080p display.

Seeing how they fared with exact same core hardware as its competitor, take that LG haters comment is laughable

I would rather see off-screen test scores rather than the vsync limited one. It seems to be impressive non the less.

It's Vsync limited, without offscreen benchmark this score is useless.

that better not be the adreno 320 gpu. I was expecting more power out of it. if its true, the exynos 5250 with Mali 600 is gonna wipe the floor with it. ugh.

Just imagine if Sammy had a let's kill the competition state of mind the new Mali would've been used instead of the over clocked version.

So, you wanted 150fps on vsync limited test?
You are jumping to conclusion too fast. This benchmark is not enough to judge the performance of the chip.

I think they're also licensed for PowerVR 6 as well

he don't, he all talk.
Like how he said that the 4412 was going to blow the T3 and all the other chipset away but with all the benchmark out the SGS3 is slightly better then the one X in Anutu and in some test worst then the S4.

then what about this article? maybe you missed it while you were scrolling down to the comment section to talk about how great this GPU is when in reality you don't know anything about it at all. if this preliminary benchmark is any indication then this is really not going to be that impressive in comparison to the hype that's been surrounding it.
