Korea rumored to get a head start with July launch of the LG G2?

0. phoneArena 24 Jun 2013, 09:12 posted on

As the sun rises on the beginning of another work week in the U.S., a couple of new rumors are spreading about the sequel to the LG Optimus G; first, with the Optimus name being dropped from LG's high-end models, the name of the phone is believed to be the LG G2. Simple and clean. The second rumor has to do with the actual launch of the LG G2...

I had an LG Ally as my first smartphone. At the time, the screen was top-notch, and it was durable as hell!

I really wanted to get an Optimus G when it released last year, but I'm on Verizon... I used my upgrade, but I hope LG does well.

If LG releases the G2 in July/August, there is a strong possibility Verizon may pick it up. They've been releasing their LG flagships roughly every 10 months. The Spectrum was 1/12 and the Spectrum 2 was 10/12. They'll be due to replace it in their lineup soon.

It's strange that LG's recent flagships haven't been showing on Verizon. It seems like only AT&T and Sprint get them. I'm not even sure about T-Mobile either.

It could probably be because Verizon is the most successful carrier right now. They could be making unfair demands if LG wants it on Verizon.

The Optimus G release was kind of like the S2. Critically acclaimed, good piece of hardware, but didn't make it to all the carriers and when it did, it was in a couple different forms. Not sure why the AT&T and Sprint versions were different. It didn't help the phone catch on, that's for sure.

Hopefully things will be different with the G2, especially with Nexus experience under LG's belt.

Yep, now that was a good lookin' phone. I absolutely loved the flush black front clean of any and all branding.

I know that carriers want to stamp their name everywhere so it's not smart to hope for that on anything other than the next Nexus phone.

Until LG gets some serious momentum, carriers will probably be very inflexible with them.

And for whatever reason, AT&T is the only carrier that seems to want exclusives on everything. So they have the G Pro, the Lumia 920, the 64 GB One, the S4 Active... but also crud like the HTC First. Verizon only wants exclusives they can plaster their brand all over.

The more this phone leaks, the more I like it. I want my phone to be future-proof. A Snapdragon 800 and LTE-Advanced will do wonders toward that goal. I've owned three LG phones. They had great build quality and held up well over the years. It's a tough market with Samsung and HTC dominating, but I say bring it on.

The LG Optimus G was one of the most well designed phones I ever owned. They really went all out on it. However, I don't see them combining all the expertise from each LG division again since the Optimus G and/Nexus 4 kind of got glossed over, here in Canada at least. The Optimus G is already zero dollars on a crappy 3 years plan and the Nexus 4 is already $300 at Koodo.

So that suggests that they are going to go back to ghetto LG because they can't justify going all out again.

LG confirmed g2 will be introduced by 4 major telecom companies (Verizon.sprint.at&t. t mobile) . Optimus G didn't have premium brand image last year. They were in difficulties in negotiation with major telecom companies. It has been improved. Then G2 will be shown. LG Said in IR conference in korea.

Lg reached 1 million G pro selling in korean market last week! But, they only made a deal with At&t last year because other companies did have a confidence about LG phablet. I hope it getting better
