Judge Koh to Apple lawyers: Are you smoking crack?

0. phoneArena posted on 16 Aug 2012, 14:05

Judge Koh hit her limit today with Apple's lawyers, asking them if they'd lost their minds when submitting nearly two dozen witnesses and 75 pages of paperwork for their 4 hour rebuttal period...

lol yall still dont like her huh?

Our earliest evaluations of her may have been too harsh. While one can't deny some of the dumbass decisions she's made regarding Samsung's case, she has begun to redeem herself as of late.

27. -box- posted on 16 Aug 2012, 14:57 11 2

If you recall, our early early evaluations of her (months ago, before this trial) were pretty positive, as she seemed to cut through BS and had a bit of an attitude with fillibustering lawyers. Maybe we're seeing that side of her again!

32. p0rkguy posted on 16 Aug 2012, 15:15 8 4

I believe it's that time of the month and she's at risk of losing her job if she does comply with Apple's wishes.

Haha, best comment evevr about judge Koh, seriously.

I am just happy the android camp have refrained from (a) making racist remarks because she's asian, (b) making personal attacks on her qualifications (despite having a Harvard Law Degree), etc., etc.

I don't have a problem if you disagree with her actions, or just don't like her as a person but can we please refrain from the lynch mob mentality (such as the one p0rkguy is advocating).

As I stated before, she has a thankless job. I don't want to be in her shoe.

93. remixfa posted on 18 Aug 2012, 14:24 3 1

yes, because its "the android camp" that always makes racist remarks and personal attacks.

Why even write the first bit? really? oi....

If I were her, I would throw out the whole case and taken patents from both companies by now. Instead of suing each other, they could have sat down and discuss the matter like grown up. All the money is wasted for nothing really. Why don't they decide to use that money invest in a cell phone battery that can holds 3 times the charge as the current battery. Everyone in this world would be much happier. Form factors look similar? Haven't you realized a lot of cars now these days kind of look alike, and we never hear about any law suit. Give all us a break and give us a better battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!

45. prophet posted on 16 Aug 2012, 15:55 16 2

I was just thinking that the other day. It's like Ford deciding they are going to sue every other manufacturer for having side mirrors, a rectangular glass windscreen and a steering wheel for maneuver control.

Apple is taking advantage of an obviously broken patent system because it's the only way they know how to compete. If only they were to take all that money they're throwing at their lawyers and shoved it in their R&D department.

And for anyone who's going to respond with "Apple has a legal right to protect their intellectual and physical property" can save their breath. Apple is just as guilty as any other company of "borrowing" ideas and making a profit off them

74. Teejay1100 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 21:22 3 1

Well said, was thinking the same exact thing!!

51. SuperMaoriBro posted on 16 Aug 2012, 17:13 8 1

A better example is found in other electronics. look how similar TVs all look - do you see those manufacturers suing each other?

59. Droid_X_Doug posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:17 7 3

Your analogy is a bit premature - Apple isn't yet in the TV market. Once they start selling their Apple-branded TVs, I expect the lawsuits to fly fast and furious. Even with the same protagonists (Apple and Sammy).

60. lyndon420 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:30 2 1

I think you missed Super's point.

69. Droid_X_Doug posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:55 7 3

And that was? My understanding of Super's post was that TVs are similar-looking, yet TV manufacturers aren't suing each other. To which my reply was that Apple wasn't in the TV industry. Each industry Apple moves into, it seems to use litigation as part of its business strategy. Which was the basis for my follow-on comment.

72. CRICKETownz posted on 16 Aug 2012, 21:04 1 1

i think you are still missing the point...it wasnt about tv's so much as an analogy to illustrate a pointless litigation. i think all technolocgy companies are guilty of borrowing from each others innovations & improving upon it to make it their own. thats how the industry moves forward.

76. Forsaken77 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 22:24 2

Wait till Apple enters the TV market... you'll see it then.

81. lyndon420 posted on 17 Aug 2012, 01:49 1 1

If this is true, it will be intetesting to see who apple picks to make their tv's for them. Sammy maybe?

50. Droid_X_Doug posted on 16 Aug 2012, 16:59 1

Interesting how early victories can foster hubris that becomes counter-productive. This is definitely a set-back of consequence for Apple.

58. joey_sfb posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:04 2 1

Poor Judge Koh trying to reason with the unreasonable.

Hope you come to your senses and don't take the whole world down with you.

65. GuiltyBystander posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:48 1 2

Yes, I still don't like her.

91. SamsungThief posted on 18 Aug 2012, 13:22 1 3

Koh is debilating her image defending a company like Samsung who not only steals the exact merchanddise designs, but also steals the exact actors which Apple uses. Samsung displays behavior of targeting Apple and those ads using the exact actors, advertising a similar product is evidence of a direct and veiled attack against Apple.

Koh can never be a judge because she is already showing bias toward the claimant. You can't decide a case before it starts, or you are abusing the power trustingly given to you and that, is illegal.

Those who believe Samsung's Google Android products are cheap knockoffs of Apple's iPhone and iPad were given more ammo this week when it emerged that Samsung hired the same exact child actress as Apple to star in the ads for its new tablet.

92. ncv144 posted on 18 Aug 2012, 13:44 2 1

This guy is smoking more crack than apple lawyers, actors can be hired by anyone for any purpose, their job is to act.

95. Googlethis posted on 18 Aug 2012, 14:44 3

ncv has a point but like verizon did with the guy that says "can you hear me now" they patented the charracter he played. so no other company can use him as the same characters or apear in similar clothing with simliar props that would make them apear simlilar in the new ad at least thats my understanding and i am not saying that samsung products look like apples so they would be fine for use in the adds. granted thats up to the judge to deside

102. newscollector posted on 22 Aug 2012, 20:15

You're retarded. These actresses and actors which Samsung stole are advertising a similar, if not exact product which Apple is trying to sell, in this case a cell phone.

ncv144 Shut up. You are so worthless.

Everyone spread the word and ignore useless trolls like ncv144

read

“Apple has produced images of Samsung products and other evidence that provide a reasonable basis for Apple’s belief that Samsung’s new products are designed to mimic Apple’s products,” said Koh.

shut up

104. Googlethis posted on 24 Aug 2012, 09:39

As long as apple didn't patent the charracter of each person they use.(wich they probably did. God forbid they don't patent every thing they think or do.) Samsung can use the actors still use the actors they can't be dressed they same or resemble apple commercials (wich i am sure some of the apple fans out there will say "Well all cell phone companies are copying apple because there are people in there commercial using smartphones to help sell there products"). Of course apple could of made them sighn a contract stating they can't work for other companies for a set amount of years. Then it would be the actors at fault and possibly the company that hired them. or at least thats my understanding of commercial advertisment laws work. I am sure there close thousands of loop holes.

103. newscollector posted on 22 Aug 2012, 20:25

This Koh woman is egoistic and mindlessly inconsiderate for a person who is paid with taxpayers' money for residing in a case involving a company from Korea who deceiveth and snatches away Apple patents. Koh is a criminal who is breaking the moral standards of business conduct, the defense Samsung clearly stole from Apple.

We have read that Samsung even steals actors and actresses Apple Apple iPhone commercials. Koh Attempts to defend Samsung also in the midst of these daunting tests can be classified as malicious scam the general public for profit and self-preservation.

Those who believe Google Android products are cheap imitations of Apple's iPhone and iPad were given more ammo this week when it emerged that Samsung hired the same child actress as Apple to star exactly advertising its new tablet.

When Samsung was discovered and caught stealing the same exact actors for their commercials like a bent-over thief, Samsung started quickly erasing all the videos off of Youtube in an attempt to suppress evidence.

Koh is smoking crack. Apple is simply fed up with Samsung and Koh's tactics of media manipulation, Koh and Samsung refuse to play by the rules set forth in agreement by every businessman/woman. Please note that not all Asians are as bad as the Koreans, the Chinese and Japanese are kind and normal people, and accordingly all of Asia are independent minded thoughtful people, and are your allies. They won’t act like Koreans and copy every single aspect of Apple the same exact actors. They won’t lie like the Koreans after they are discovered stealing.

62. TROLL posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:32 1 2

Crack is made from cocaine.

78. ardent1 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 23:43 3 1

Crack is not the same as cocaine. While crack is derived from cocaine, crack has baking soda or ammonia that is not found in cocaine.

In summary, they are similar but not the same. Crack is a processed product derived from cocaine.

87. jmoita2 posted on 17 Aug 2012, 13:23 2

You get an A+!!! Well put.

96. HäckeMáte posted on 18 Aug 2012, 17:48 1 1

Last time I checked Crack is 90% cocaine and the 10% aditives are so when cooked it all sticks together.

But may be you know more about this from personal experience :/

99. remixfa posted on 19 Aug 2012, 19:51 1

by the time it hits the streets its way less than 90% cocaine. hell, cocaine isnt even 90% cocaine by the time it hits the streets.lol its like 50/50 baking soda/coke mix from the el quickie google search i just did.

9. mas11 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 14:19 17 1

Once she witnessed Apple's bulls**t first-hand she changed her mind.

39. E.N. posted on 16 Aug 2012, 15:41 1 1

Yeah its kinda stupid how biased they are. If the judge is in favor of Apple in one situation, she's corrupt and the entire trial is unfair and unjust. But if she agrees with Samsung, she's suddenly amazing. They should just admit they're biased fanboys so we can all move on.

54. jroc74 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 17:29 2 1

There are fanboys on both sides....so what.

Even if she has been giving Samsung some breathing room lately....I still dont like her overall. She has a career in politics the way she flip flops.

64. lyndon420 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 18:38 1
