Jolla looking to China to gain traction for Sailfish

0. phoneArena posted on 25 Jan 2013, 00:52

This year looks like the year of Linux-based mobile operating systems. Android, which already has the global lead, is poised to firmly take the US market share as well. Then, there are at least 2, maybe 3 (depending on if Ubuntu makes it to market in 2013) Linux-based mobile platforms set to launch, including Sailfish, which Jolla hopes will gain traction in China...

From what I experienced, people in China want android and android only... Even if they don't want android, they will choose Nokia instead, while iPad as tablets...

other os stand no chance even RIM as well...

Why will Jolla's sailfish compete with MeeGo? And finally somewhere we can see some common sense prevailing with Canonical/Jolla targeting the emerging smartphone markets rather than Nokia who's business model is flawed, All efforts are being spent to capture the US market while traditional strongholds like MEA/India/China are being ignored.

Nokia is following Apple model. They thought that because of their name it will sell like hot cake but situation is that you get 2 for $99 ... with free add on of Wireless charger :)

As long as Nokia survives on M$ Coupons Nokia cannot have any plan B/C.

actually i think sailfish will have a shot than firefox and ubuntu to compete with android since it will also support HTML5!

but ubuntu might have a hard time since it is still pending till 2014, if they could bring it now or on Q2, then it will be a different story, coz ubuntu mobile is really amazing of what could it do, i mean a real PC platform squeeze on a mobile!

but jolla's target, china, is a good decision since china is the biggest market, and if they can have that traction, they'll able to compete with android for sure...

but what's more realistic is that firefox OS's target, the emerging market, android boom because of the emerging market coz of very cheap phones (in my country the best selling android smartphone is galaxy y, a very cheap phone) so firefox will be great there! and i guess HTML5 is ready now!

but im still rooting for sailfish, since this is they are the real nokia for me, the nokia that people know now is not the nokia that i know! while this, they are the real nokia!
