John McCain happy about automatic app updates on iOS 7

0. phoneArena 10 Jun 2013, 23:37 posted on

Last month, when Apple CEO Tim Cook was being questioned about Apple's corporate tax rate by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) had a question to ask the Apple executive; the former Republican Presidential candidate wanted to know, "Why the hell do I have to keep updating apps on my iPhone all the time?"...

Impressed as far as the way things were implemented. Android has pushed the envelope so far, and covered their bases so well that pretty much anything that's done will echo android in some way shape, or form. I like the bold moves of apple to move away from resting on their laurels, and take chances. They've been pushed by android and thank god they're acting on it. Overall great update, but needs to kept in perspective.

I like the look in parts but imo nothing seems consistent in design which apple are known for.. The control centre is nice but the design seems out of place. The icons are some of the worst I seen minus clock, calendar. I've seen Better icons in play store and cydia..I think overall iOS 7 will keep current users and new smart phone users happy but don't think it will convert many from other platforms. My overall impression of iOS 7 from watching videos is it seems like a mash up of cydia tweakes... but as I said for current user base I think this will keep them happy lol I can't over some of those icons especially the safari one it just sticks out.. Can't wait to actually use it though on my brothers iPad when it does come.

I actually like that control center is separate from notifications. On my note 2 it's very busy looking when I pull down the shade, intuitive as heck though. I like the swipe down for one, and up for the other. PS Sorry for the late response.

Your right, but let me ask you a question and be honest, be mature.

Why can Apple borrow and i dont wanna say steal all of it's new features from android and other competition, and at the same time Apple sues on rounded corner icons?

Honestly I don't like apples suit happiness. I'm not in the boardroom, so I can't speak with certainty about what goes on behind closed doors. I think apple should focus more on innovation, and less courtroom drama. That's my honest opinion ITE. I do feel some of their suits are baseless, but once again...I'm a consumer not an employee of theirs.

I agree jedii, i don't like how the icons look but i'm very pleased with the UI and functionality. Definitely seems fresh. I don't know what people expect apple to do different... there's really nothing too original they can do that's not done already. I'm just glad that they added a few features that caused some of their fans to leave to android/wp

Great job Apple.

I agree. I think the next wave of true innovation is a few years away, when hardware has advanced. If you look at it innovation is limited by hardware. As it became more powerful, and flexible it allowed devs to do more. Think about it like this. What if google had 4.2.2 in 2009, it woulda run horribly cuz the power to run it smoothly didn't exist then. Apple played catchup, they really did, but they also needed to. This brings them up to par with google, WP8, and the rest. Now we'll start to see apple bring it, cuz the consumers spoke with their wallets, and on wall st.

I hate you idiots that actually believe one "side" is superior to the other. Republicans and Democrats are "dumb", because they aren't smart enough to realize they are causing us all to be taken to the cleaners by thieves and psychopaths.

Way to pump even more ado for nothing.
