John Legere elegantly implies that BlackBerry will be the next MySpace
0. phoneArena 20 Feb 2014, 09:28 posted on
John Legere did not remain idle and addressed the CEO of the Canadian manufacturer in a rather salty way. He expressed his desire to “engage John Chen on Twitter”, but it turned out that he is not there. Legere nails his brutal statement by saying that he would check if Chen's on MySpace, hinting that BlackBerry will continue to be the underdog of the mobile industry, an outsider just like MySpace...

I have used a z10, very disappointing device especially for the price.

My last BB was a Bold 9000. It was far easier to use than the current crop of BBs running OS10. Anyone wondering why BB's market share has fallen so far need only look at the OS10 UI in comparison to Android, iOS or WP. Consumers are not going to put up with the OS10 UI when they have 3 much easier to use UIs to choose from.

Haven't seen you on the boards for some time now... perhaps it is because I have slowed down a bit, or you, or both of us. But nice to see you commenting away again.
And couldn't agree more. I could have given OS10 a longer time to sink in, and I truly do feel that the OS had the crackberry addictive features of the old BlacBerrys, but there's also the element of BlackBerry is dead - even if it is a good OS, not going to invest too much time into it. Perhaps they would be more relevant had they released OS10 YEARS earlier.
Windows Phone 8.1 is showing that it learned from BlackBerry as the update looks AMAZING.

It's very unusual for me to agree with you, and this is one of those times... what does blackberry has to offer that other phones/platforms dosen't?, the feel way outdated..

Yes, millions of people still use BlackBerry devices the same way people use the iToy. If any of you have used BB10 before, you would know that it's superior to iOS, especially in terms of features, multitasking, and pure power.
22. Astoni (Posts: 429; Member since: 28 Sep 2013)
So i'd take it that you're a blackberry fanboy?. yes i do have experience with blackberry every since i was younger.
Tbh its pretty much sh*t IMO, and i can't see how it can beat neither android or iOS in multitasking, features and pure power.. And i don't even know it its able to take on WP..

And I take it you must be an iZombie or a Fandroid. And if you're referring to experience with BBOS as opposed to BB10, then that doesn't count. It's a better OS than those you mentioned for the exact same reasons that I mentioned. Having to close one app just to use another is not multitasking. BB10 has true multitasking. iOS and Windows do not. Can the other OS's you've named run apps from a separate OS? Nope.BB10 can. iOS And Windows Phone don't even have file managers. And I like Windows Phone. But its currently very limiting when compared to BB10. And yes, I've used a number of devices from each of the OS's you've mentioned for a long period of time. BB10 is just better, IMO. If you don't like BB10 that's fine. But don't down it having not used it for any real length of time.

Astoni, it is because you do not run a company that needs to 'control' a large amount of devices.
BB allows you to do this, not to mention their enterprise servers etc.
Just because you don't see the value doesn't mean it's not there. The droid offers me nothing that I would consider of pure value the note 3 I own is not my daily driver. My 925 provides better value.
To each his own, to call an OS sht because you cannot comprehend its usefulness is just well, a fanboy.
35. Astoni (Posts: 429; Member since: 28 Sep 2013)
Sorry elite but it was my opinion. and i have played around with os10 not really fond of it. and i know you don't have a note 3 :p cause you just disproved it yourself.

What a kid legere is, wanting to engage through Twitter? Why not face to face like proper gentleman?
10. willard12 (Posts: 693; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
Blackberry is the next Myspace and T Mobile is the next Cingular Wireless.
12. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5528; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
Cingular morphed into AT&T Wireless. Are you insinuating that T-Mo is going to grow to rival AT&T Wireless? :-)
13. papss (unregistered)
I think he is saying that they will be bought and forgotten about like Cingular. I could be wrong though.

Cingular Wireless was not bought out by AT&T Mobility. AT&T actually sold their wireless division to SBC Global which owned Cingular. Anyone that worked in wireless selling Cingular at the time remembers the blue and orange accounts headaches. A few years later, AT&T acquired SBC Global and all of its channels including Cingular. They then chose to rebrand the wireless division to AT&T Mobility.
If you want to make a more accurate joke of what T-Mobile will probably become, it will be the next Alltel. They will be purchased by more than likely Softbank, then some customers and spectrum will be sold off to regional carriers and/or another national carrier.

This guy is a joke! Wants to engage him on twitter? Twitter is not where you conduct business. I'm sure he is busy trying to turn around his new company to engage this joke of a CEO on twitter. He annoys the crap out of me...

I like Legere but have to disagree with the BB stance he's taking. Unless he's looking at this from nothing more than an accountants perspective, isolating a portion of your user base isn't a good move. Too many times I've seen companies use the accountant approach and it causes nothing but problems, there's more to life than just numbers and stats.

Blackberry has had it bad, I think they need to be left alone...and Chen needs to chill the f*?k out, he shouldn't have overeacted the way he did. Payback is a beech, die blackberry!

Blackberry practically is the next Pets.com.
21. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5528; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
All they need now is a sock puppet as their mascot.
23. TechBlue (Posts: 62; Member since: 06 May 2010)
I like everything that John Legere has done so far. but I have to agree his position on this is not the way to go
25. JerryTime (Posts: 468; Member since: 09 Nov 2013)
If i was him i wouldnt promote crappy, difficult to use(for the average consumer)products that don't sell either. Can't blame the guy for promoting the most prevelant mobile OS in the States or a dying company with a dying system.
28. downphoenix (Posts: 2266; Member since: 19 Jun 2010)
Legere will need to watch his step, he might cause a 'Berrygate.
I see that T-Mo is gonna pull a sprint and just pretty much ignore a device OS entirely (Sprint does this with WP, and BB isnt too far behind).

T-Mobile and Blackberry = T-Berry both are not good but they need each other.

Both are garbage and blackberry your ship is sunk and done. Get lost
