Jailbreakers may soon be able to run side-by-side apps on iPad

Now this is what we call true multitasking: side-by-side apps on the same screen. No background apps or freeze states or other slights of hand, just straight up multitasking. That's what developer Aaron is striving for on jailbroken iPads.
Aaron, developer of the Multifl0w and Barrel jailbreak tweaks, has released a proof-of-concept image of an app which he seems to have named Polyonix. The app places two iPhone-sized apps next to each other running at the same time. This is a great idea, but given the state of the proof-of-concept, there are a few questions that need answering. First, this is just an image, so we have no idea how well the apps are running. Choppy apps are useless apps. Also, we'd need to know if all apps are compatible or if it only works with certain apps. We'd want to know if users would be able to control both apps at the same time (it could be necessary.) And, of course there is a question as to how sound is dealt with as far as which app gets priority, or if volume levels can be controlled.
This could be a great solution for watching video while browsing the web, or answering e-mails. Or, playing two games of Angry Birds at once as is in the image. There are certainly a number of uses for running multiple apps on the same screen at once, so this is an exciting development. We'll keep an eye out for any more news. It should be interesting to see if this hits the Cydia app store first, or if Onskreen can release Cornerstone in the Android Market to bring similar functionality to Honeycomb tablets.

Money says it'll be 10x better than the half baked way Android does it?
