Is this the Apple iPhone 5's display assembly?
0. phoneArena posted on 19 Aug 2012, 22:26
Pictures obtained by smartphone repair shop UBREAKiFIX.com from one of its distributors claim to show the display assembly for the upcoming Apple iPhone 5; the pictures don't really offer anything new, but a closeup does reveal serial numbers to "prove" the authenticity of the photos...

It is just soo hard to look at a slightly taller and thinner phone and get excited. Add in a UI that is so 2010 (maybe 2009?), and the 'new' iPhone is just a Yawn.
Best wishes to those who are eagerly anticipating the new iPhone. Unfortunately, you don't know what you are missing in JB (even ICS for that matter).
46. Droid_X_Doug posted on 20 Aug 2012, 03:44 3 1
JB = Jelly Bean (aka Android v. 4.1)
ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich (aka Android v. 4.0)

Wow, android? R U sure, dude? I have had android phone, but to compare it with an iPhone, wait a sec:) Android is a nice OS(athough copied), but I'd take one only for a second phone, never for my main one. I use 4S and Nokia now.
57. joey_sfb posted on 20 Aug 2012, 11:00 0 1
What a false statement, if you have used an android phone or tablet you would know that iOS and Android have different feature sets and UI. I don't get it why an iOS fanboy would lie about this sort of thing.
Features that iOS lack;
1. Bluetooth file transfer
2. Third Party Apps Multitasking capabilities
3. UI Widgets.
4. Open App Stores vs iTune (a clear monopoly)

Copied? You are smoking crack!. And believe what Steve Jobs said. There is no basis to this. Google develops Android. It is 100% genuine using Linux as a starting point. Do what you want but speak the truth and not wild accusations.
65. flamencoguy posted on 22 Aug 2012, 23:10 0 0
And you did not even know what JB is. So you don't know that is is copied. Quote your source !

A lot of people critiqued the hell out of the SGIII and some people who own wish that it was built slightly better with better materials and a better design, some even saying that its a step backwards from the SGII's design. And look how well the device is doing.... From the rumored pictures of the Note 2, the designs is going to be pretty damn similar to the original Note, and the Note 2 is most likely going to be a great seller also. Why is there so much complaining about the iPhone's design? These images are AT LEAST an average design, maybe even a little above.
I'm awaiting the new iPhone, so thanks for your wishes. As long as this iPhone is not an "S" version, I think it will be a pretty solid choice for anyone out there looking for a new phone, we'll just have to see. I will be missing some cool features in JB, but there's also a lot to love about iOS too. You've made your decision to go with Android, so you should give others the space to make their own decision. I love how Android users advocate choice and deciding what you want in a phone, but then they attack users who do just that. Oh the hypocrisy!

I agree Android is the way to customize things and much more. but, when it comes to smoothness no one can compete with iPhone. Dont blindly down vote this comment
6. frydaexiii posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:01 13 1
Yeah, say that to project butter...Androids are just as smoother if you use espier launcher or iLauncher, but who in their right mind would do that?
7. Cerberusa2a posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:02 9 1
While iphone is very smooth with opening files and scrolling etc. I have been using jelly bean recently and i got to say, apple has its hands full with this android update.

As an iPhone 4 user - I've noticed a relatively high amount of lag ever since iOS 5. Even after closing all "background" apps - there is lag when going to the spotlight, for instance. Or when installing an app and scolling the home screen. Such things didn't exist in iOS 4.x
12. frydaexiii posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:09 9 1
I noticed that in my friend's half-a-year old iPhone 4 and 4Ss too. Playing games like Infinity Blade lags like hell, and on some of the worst iPhones, even scrolling Facebook lags.
23. TROLL posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:37 8 0
And also it lags playing 1080p. And can't open YouTube desktop website!

19. TROLL posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:33 5 0
Why wouldn't it be, the OS is half-Baked, doesn't run any apps at the back ground, the phone was made to launch just apps.....
26. Raymond_htc posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:42 3 0
I read the comment. i dont blindly down voted this! what u said is utter crap. S3 and S2 are soooo smooth.. and with project butter for jelly bean, android phones in the future will be as smooth as the iPhone- or even more smoother. :)
66. flamencoguy posted on 22 Aug 2012, 23:13 0 0
They also crash and freeze alot. You just don't see it.

Ok, that's just what the Galaxy SII LTE is to the Galaxy SII, larger screen with added LTE & NFC (That is if they even put LTE in). Come on, I know Apple fans always have low expectations when it comes to their products so they don't seem disappointed when the product is underwhelming , but this is just sad & pathetic. I still wonder how a company who releases minor updates as major product still have a running in the current market, idiots who still buy their crap is my guess.
17. nicholassss posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:29 7 1
The downside with this is not that its a bigger screen, the idea of stretching it and having it all long and narrow and just... weird looking.
40. Bluesky02 posted on 20 Aug 2012, 01:12 0 0
I think it is from the expectation of perfect. Since they already know every versions are gonna look same there's a perfectionist mentality like "next version is going to be perfect"
16. ObjectivismFTW posted on 19 Aug 2012, 23:29 4 1
Ahh, Apple once again working their iMagic -- selling incrementally updated products as "revolutionary" innovations.
Almost like the Call of Duty in the smartphone/tablet industry.

This reply is being composed on an iPad3 with iOS v. 5.1.1. The OS is the same on the iPhone 4/4S. Sorry, but iOS v. 5.1.1 is soo outdated compared to Android ICS or JB. iOS v. 6 is just an incremental upgrade over 5. The same can be said for the iPhone 5 (or whatever Apple ends up calling it) - an incremental upgrade. Certainly not worth eating a contract termination fee on top of the cost of the phone.

But Apple start to use its own maps :)
I can't wait to try it :)
39. Droid_X_Doug posted on 20 Aug 2012, 01:12 0 1
When you try the Apple maps app, be sure to try it in a place you are familiar with. It would ruin your experience if you got lost using the maps app. It will take a while before the maps app is comparable to what Google has. Meanwhile, Googe will continue to improve Googe Maps....
41. wendygarett (limited) 5 days ago posted on 20 Aug 2012, 01:23 1 0
Lol so you're sayin Apple will not improve its maps for the rest of our live? Lolol
42. Savage posted on 20 Aug 2012, 02:03 0 1
No no! They will improve it. Just one update a year. Like they did with Siri.
43. Droid_X_Doug posted on 20 Aug 2012, 02:13 0 1
And in the 1 year that Apple update its maps app, Google will probably release at least 2 significant Maps updates. They (Google) just released an update that provides the ability to store maps on the handset - great if you are going to an area with no cellular coverage.... Try doing that with the Apple maps app.
67. flamencoguy posted on 22 Aug 2012, 23:21 0 0
And now who is copying whom?
I hope Google can sue Apple.
As you see Apple originates very little but mostly copies something other people started. They bought Siri, They did not develop it themselves. Check it out for yourself. I am not lying.
They will come up with something called Apple Earth next? What a bunch of low life copycats.

Im so suprised when people say whos gonna buy this same old stupid boring design phone!!!!!! PLEASE PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!! iSheeep will buy anything Apple throws in front of them. Apple will get on the stage and present the 4' inch iPhone like its the most revolutionary screen size in the world!!

I don't care !! I want that iPhone!!! I do I do I do!!!
33. technut posted on 20 Aug 2012, 00:52 0 0
Is it just me, or is a 4 inch display too small? I have a droid RAZR with a 4.3" display and just wish it was a tad bit bigger. I'm not trying to put down apple, nor am I blind... but come on, make a phone with a 4.5 - 5 inch display preferably closer to 5. Most people use their phones to do more than make phone calls these days.
37. Droid_X_Doug posted on 20 Aug 2012, 01:07 0 0
Also, with the dinky display, the iPhone will never have a 720p display resolution. Just so that the user can text one-handed (Woopee! that must be better than sex...). Bet you never knew that you really needed to be able to text one-handed, did you?
Apple knows better than you do what you really need....

49. xtian1103 posted on 20 Aug 2012, 07:42 5 0
Apple will sell millions of this phone just like samsung sold millions of galaxy s3. Apple users will definitely buy this one just like android users patronize the s3. There's no variety on android handsets anymore, it's only samsung market.
50. sithman (banned) posted on 20 Aug 2012, 08:21 2 0
Question? Why is it android users hate apple so much, but feel they have to come on all the apple articles to post that hate? If u hate apple so much y even click on the article, or do u jus want to insult apple users with stupid comments? Just asking.
54. sithman (banned) posted on 20 Aug 2012, 09:53 2 0
Just makes no sense bro. I never see apple users patrolling android articles to bash them, and the android users. It also won't make a difference to apples users either. Just wasted time I guess

That sums it up, it'll sell millions, even though.
