Is the Apple iPad in Verizon's future?

Now that the Apple iPad is a success, it is rumored that Verizon is currently testing a version that would work on their network...

It never ends...a year plus of iPhone rumors coming to VZW, now it's the iPad's turn. While the iPad may be a more likely possibility (I don't think AT&T has an exclusivity agreement for that one), I still don't think it will happen until VZW has lit up LTE later this year (perhaps holidays?) or early 2011. This is just my opinion of course...and we all know about opinions, right? ;-)

See, I don't even think it's going to be next year. Let's be honest, even when Verizon does deploy LTE, it won't be nationwide. So any device that runs on the LTE network will have to be a somewhat hybrid device running both CDMA and LTE radios (kind of like what the EVO does with CDMA). So if Apple is truly waiting for LTE, they still may be waiting for a few years...because Verizon's LTE coverage will be spotty for the first few years

I personally think the iPad is rather pointless. It's just an oversized iPod touch with a monthly bill. No thank you! I'll just take a DROID X and i'll be on my way.

why wud they do this? i dnt have an ipad but i do have an iphone 3Gs n i always use my verizon mifi with it n it works perfect . so if someone wants a verizon or sprint ipad why dnt they use it with the verizon or sprint mifi?

They want it because enough people will buy it and it gives Apple more market share. Look at the sales numbers for all iPads. It's a huge success. If they make a 3g/4g version (like a certain Sprint phone that just came out) it will work on the entire network and the benefits of LTE will be there for those in an LTE area, which will be expanding quickly next year. It makes sense to Apple, Verizon Wireless, and me.

I hear Apple and VZ are testing a new device code named iclown. The primary customer base for this device is anyone who thinks VZ will get any Apple product this year. It's so thin and light that you won't even feel it in your pocket. The first test model is going to the Wallstreet Journal guy who keeps starting rumors that VZ is getting an Apple product. Nothing against VZ but just tired of seeing these articles about Apple and VZ. I really don't think VZ will pay or give up enough control to Apple so that they will agree on terms. Then again you never know

I see Verizon picking up the Samsung pad loaded with Android OS before it seein an iPad. Seein as VZW has deepened their relationship with Google, it only seems like a logical move...but of course, just IMO.
