Is Google now blocking mobile YouTube from Windows Phone?

0. phoneArena 12 Jan 2013, 13:05 posted on

Last week, we showed you how Google was redirecting maps.google.com to the main Google mobile search page and after a few excuses by the guys at Mountain View, Google Maps was once again functional for Windows Phone 8; now the problem seems to be with YouTube as attemptsd to load a video from the mobile YouTube web site are met with a request to load a non-existent app...

The Note 2 that you sold because "it sucked" or the Note 2 that you bought after you sold the first one for "sucking"? I'm confused which Note 2 you are referring to.

"Microsoft announced that Google had become the latest ActiveSync licensee. Google apparently is licensing ActiveSync"

http://techrights.org/2012/12/28/microsoft-activesync-and-google/

Yep and if I was Google, you want Youtube to work on WP, pay me!

In that case, Google should make it the same for all clients and not only for Microsoft, because it is anticompetitive behavior.

i dont get how the author can say "Google should of did this in the first place" when we ALLL know what microsoft has been doing to Google! Whether Google did this by accident or ON PURPOSE, somebody is going to have to explain to me WHY microsoft DIDNT deserve it!

cos microsoft developed the stuff they're licensing to others..they're not forcing anyone to purchase it..google didn't develop youtube..get it..?
its been free since day one..so changing something to hurt another eco system is not being fair.. if its free it has to be free for all and if its paid it has to be paid for all..

its like coke and water..one was made to be paid and the other to be used freely..

Google may actually want to strike a cross lincensing deal with MS.

Android has to pay to access Outlook so MS should pay to access Youtube.

The best thing can happen is MS drops fee for accessing their mail service. MS already earns a lot of money selling the service to users.

only thing is if they make MS pay they are going to have to make Apple pay as well otherwise they would say it is "unfair, anti-competitive, etc"

YT is not even a patent mate, let alone standard essential patent so the rule you mention does not apply.

in the end its not about google or apple its about who makes a buck and how they can improve their profit margin.

dont think of google as red cross, its a business let it be a business.

its a good move to think about it your blocking windows, especially that nut case steve balmer and his crap windows software from accessing anything. cause steve was talking shots at android in the open thinking he got nuts of steel. but little baldy got the weiner of the chinks.

Answer this for me....

"The problem seems to be when using the Desktop mode in Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 8. Switching to Mobile view seems to work fine."

I dont see how this means Google is blocking mobile Youtube from Windows Mobile...

Maps I could understand because desktop mode isnt on by default...Isnt mobile view on by default? I seriously, seriosuly question this article writers motives the past few weeks...

It seems like their updating it to work for Windows, so considered blocking at the moment for Windows 8. It seems that way from what I got from the end. The article isnt very clear and shouldnt be misleading like that.

It is Google's software.... As such, it is their choice to play or not play with WP. It will be interesting to learn what Google's response is.

Couldn't have said it better.
No one can force Google to play nice, microsoft and apple raised their fists in the face of Google, so it's natural to fight back; microsoft needs a good Google slap in the face to bring back the sense to it's brain.
It's Google's software, and they can use it any way they want.
Have a nice day Doug.

+1 for both of you. I think these things will never stop until big G and monopolistic M can strike a deal.

M quit paying and lobbying to harm G, drop the ridiculous fees for accessing M services and then G will play nice with WP.

All you three are retards. Enjoying what's causing people inconvenience is a bad thing.

Let me ask you, can google ever block YT access to desktop windows? No. Because 90% of the videos they are getting, from there. You are just being crazy fanboys and living in your fish tank.

No app? Understandable. But actively blocking access to a platform is ridiculous. The videos are uploaded by users, and not produced by Google nor are owned by them. You can get all thumbs up from Android fanboys but remember, Google started as 'open', 'not evil'. you'll see Google going evil bit by bit and someday will start monopolizing and charging on Android.
