Is Google looking to debut as a wireless carrier?

The span of Google’s interests is truly prolific, but now the carrier might surprise us even its most open-minded supporters as it might be planning to step in the shoes of wireless carriers…

Google wants to know everything about everything and everyone. No thanks. They'd just record everything you did.

Unlike the credit card companies, online shopping sites, facebook, twitter, etc...

While America and the world(not me) are fascinated by shows like Idol, what the masses don't realize that what was once a chance decision ( finding talent that will sell records) now we are taking the guesswork out of the equation. It is not only Google.

I don't see this happening. It's not profitable for them.

Yeah pushing out a network optimized for the Android platform, with all the phone makers(except Apple) having a more device friendly network to develop devices for......Yeah you nailed that not profitable thing down......NOOOOOOOOT

I love Google. I wish They were partners with Apple. That SIM card and MacBook Pro is a great picture.

Google is trying to follow the lead of Microsoft. With the MS acquisition of Skype (Voice over IP), MS may be able to bypass any Telecomcompany. MS is also integrating Skype and Lync into Windows 8, and already there is concrete proof that you will be able to make calls from your Windows 8 PC, tablet or labtop to any mobile or landline phone. It's also no secret that MS will be integrating Skype in it's enterprise products, TV's, mobile phones, Xbox etc. AT&T and other Telecomcompanies are not happy with the acquisition of Skype by MS, but MS has, wisely, not given any details as to what it's true intentions are with Skype. With Skype MS can offer free or real cheap voice over IP calls at competitive prices. Google has no choice, if it is to compete with a MS-Skype combination, but to try to try to get acces to cheap telecomnetwork. A lot of people failed to see the rational of MS Skype combination, but trust me MS knows what's it doing.

Good for Google, but we'll have to see what other carriers have to say. One question is, will it be neccessary for them to carry Android phones?

Google's a great company, don't get me wrong, but them operating a cell phone carrier i wouldn't like. Alot of people are saying "Google should buy t-mobile", and i completely disagree. I would feel restricted, and feel as if android is my only option. Even though Google would probably allow Wp7, or the Iphone onto the network, they would probably be hesitant, and/or not get as high quality phones as other carriers would. I want to be able to choose between android and wp7. Currently i'm on wp7, and honestly, i'm surprised how much i love it. The biggest thing for me is having a carrier that's has too many androids, and not enough outside choices. And lets face reality, nothing lasts forever, Blackberry declined, ios is on a slow path of declining, every technology slowly declines and gets replaced. Eventually android will decline, and other software will thrive, and decline again. But my overall point is, If android declines, a carrier intertwined with android will decline as well. What would save the carrier?

we may even see google become a corporation for medicine and creating vaccines and then we may even see they failed to make vaccines and caused chemically damaged the human cells and then there is ZOMBIES, resident evil is coming brought to you by Google corp.

55. lubba posted on 23 Sep 2011, 18:20

Then there will be Resident evil 6, and I'll have to by another xbox360 or in this case 720 to kill all those Google Zombies and use Wp8 to monitor my achievements where ever I go. Good deal! LOLzz!!!

Google buys Tmo? Dumb, Dumb, and Dummer! Ok so Google buys Tmo. What do you fanboys think will happen? Yes! There will only be Android phones on the shelves! No choice for customers! Only the fanboys will stay, the rest will leave the new "Tmoogle."

59. merdoc posted on 24 Sep 2011, 12:14

they should change it to Gmobile if they buy t-mobile or G+wireless

60. Berzerk000 posted on 24 Sep 2011, 14:25

If they do become a carrier, they should merge with T-Mobile, instead of AT&T merging..

While you all seem happy and joyous. The simple fact remain; they are truly cornering the market in every aspect of capitalizm and are becoming a World Monopoly..... And everyone seems to ignore this fact. The blind eye we as a society create and allow towards companies. To be able to saturate the environment we live in with brand names and status quo's, and most of us dont even realize the reason we even purchase the things we do, the perfect example Apple/Google. Brain washed to believe their product are better but It's all made the same in China with the same components Intel /AMD all the same, yet their reason most users like to give is "It's an Apple", No its a computer you dont even use and all you do is bragg about how much you spent on something you dont use. To much control and authority is being given to Google and other corporations and we have become to blind to our own actions. We must wake up and read deeper into hat companies ask of us instead of just agreeing to popular society.
