Using a Lenovo K900 to make its point, Intel comes out swinging and takes aim at ARM. Stating that...

CPU Power doesnt mean s**t if it has crap battery life.

your not the only one who noticed the absurd pointlessness that is this video...

sure the performance looks great, but the articles pictured and such where about power, literal power, as in electricity, not power as in performance...

that being said, I await actual benchmarks, IE how long can one watch videos or game on the device vs the rest of the competition!

that video doesn't exactly disprove any of ARM's claims but it was a pretty nice demonstration. that app they opened took a long time to actually open but i'm willing to forgive that being that Lenovo may have a crappy, unoptimized skin running there and that app was pretty graphically intense from the get-go.

Its funny because the phone in the phone shown is one of the worst intel mobile processors you can get. Just wait till they get there i5s running in phones in a few years. We will see who laughs when it scores a 70000 in Antutu.

vizio or some other company's tablet has low power cpu made by amd...its gpu is rated significantly powerful than any of atom offerings!

surely Intel chips are powerful but intel must put more efforts as there are few devices running them.
quad-core with hyper threading will be better.

even an atom based Lenovo phone scored 26k in antutu

But they have yet to reveal the Lenovo's battery efficiency...anything that lasts under 8 hours of moderate usage is a huge no no to many

It's a performer, but will nevertheless be rivalled by Snapdragon 800, which is also cheaper, more efficient and more integrated, with a superior GPU.
And all that on a 28nm vs 22nm.
Once Samsung, Qualcomm and Nvidia move to 20nm and beyond, Intel will not be able to compete in efficiency

Don't worry...intel will move to 14nm too and beyond ;)

wait for atom bay trail releasing in the same period of that of snapdragon 800.
it has 22nm and x86 with more power efficiency and quad core with hyper threading

Same as all above, the video doesn't show anything about power comsumption. Everyone knows that Intel can make powerful CPUs, what's not clear is if they can be also frugal.
And that phones uses a PowerVR SGX 544 MP2 @533 MHz, I wonder how much that drains the battery.
And the third question is: even if it's frugal, can they do it at a cheaper price than the competitors?
How much costs a Atom Z2580 compared to a Qualcomm APQ8064T?

Why wonder...go check for yourself -http://www.anandtech.com/show/6529/busting-the-x86-power-myth-indepth-clover-trail-power-analysis

Only concern in anand's comparison is its clovertrail vs A9..not krait...but it'll give you idea anyway.

I read the article already, but they are comparing the Z2760 which uses a PowerVR SGX 545 single core, not the 2580 in the Lenovo K900. So my wonder is how the increase in GPU (new one with 2 cores) would affect the complete SoC. Will it double the comsumption?
I guess not that much, but I still would like to see another article like that one :)

Intel is the best in PC & laptop cpu's, but in the mobile world ARM still rules..!

ARM sucks. Intel is coming back for seconds. They are going to do the same thing to ARM as they did to AMD.

The first benchmark looks impressive, but the seconds benchmark with the small videos does not say much because my 2 year old motorola defy with 800 mhz single core processesor feels almost smooth, and it can't even handle 720p video's.
