MS had developed the concept of crowd-sourcing bug catching to an art-form. I am glad to see the skill hasn't been diminished with the passage of time. Vista was kind of the high-water mark for crowd-sourcing of bugs; maybe Win8 will eclipse Vista?

most of the complaints surrounding Windows 8 aren't to do with bugs, mostly to do with the interface changes and start screen.

you can always get the updates ...whatever windows phone 8 has to offer. its definitely going be have all the features that WP7.5 couldn't offer.

While I don't disagree that W8 may not be ready, it could be that Microsoft is trying to do what apple does, keep stuff secret until the announcement, especially with all the free previews and betas it's offered this time around.

and the process of update patches is what fixes everything its nothing new everything comes with bugs and solved afterwards :P everyone has a histroy of buged release and polished afterwards

I think if it's not ready then Microsoft should not rush Windows 8. Instead they should focus on Widows RT and WP8, and should release windows 8, only when it's fully ripe to be released. If they want to get share tablet marker soon then for time being windows RT could serve them best, and rushing windows 8, could become disaster just like vista.....

I bought a PC recently. I got an offer to upgrade to Windows 8 for 14.99. Microsoft has until January (When the offer ends) to wow me with 8 and make dealing with the interface changes and metro start menu worthwhile. If they dont, this box will stick with Windows 7 until its dying breath, or until Linux magically gets a big chunk of market. Which I doubt will happen unless W8 is a disaster and Microsoft fails to fix it for 9.

The Metro UI of Win 8 is actually pretty nice. The two major problems though are...

1: The Metro UI home screen is pretty awesome once you get used to it, but as nice as it is, as soon as you go to the desktop, a window, the control panel or settings, a program, or pretty much do anything at all you get thrown back to the existing Windows interface. There just isn't any flow. You have this awesome launcher and the regular Windows system and you just swap between them without any harmony.

2: When this is released to the public the #1 Google search is going to be "where is the start menu". It's going to happen. You just wait and see... I'm laughing already :)

I think even if it is not completely ready, it will still be a damned fine full OS they will certainly please the masses. I will be getting a windows hybrid laptop/tablet in the future (probably this year) because I know it will be worth it.

Im not impressed with Win8 on my desktop.. I have to go to "desktop" but its missing the start button and all the abilities there of.. Im not leaving Win7 for my office anytime soon.
