Instagram says "No" to native BlackBerry 10 app say sources
0. phoneArena posted on 21 Feb 2013, 21:07
We had heard before the launch of the Blackberry Z10, from a number of potential buyers of the device who were worried about the availability of one native app for the model, Instagram; if the lack of an Instagram app is a deal breaker, better look elsewhere as sources are saying that there will be no native BlackBerry 10 version of the photo sharing, social networking site...

Well if there is no wp instagram app I found it really weird that there would be a bb one. The only way that would have happened is if bb paid them off.

Blackberry should have paid them to make an Instagram app honestly...

even if they pay them, i dont think that they will do such thing! just look at MSFT, they got huge share on FB, the owner of IG, they still dont have that social networking app!
but happy to say that MOLOME (the IG of symbian and BB) is now a cross platform! its available on iOS, android and WP!

yep if money is the case i agree but as of now instagram is already owned by FB and basing to what i heard rumors are FB planning have their own phone powered by android i think instagram are just scared of the competition for if you look at it closely ported apps would still help the Instagram at some ways to gain more supporters or users with that i dont see any losing option with that

totally agree, even though IG wont bring its app to BB10, some can still port it to BB10!! but still, it is way better if its native app!!!

i dont really get why instagram is at "lets wait and see" on these platform (these, including WP and even symbian, coz still, even without support symbian is still the forth platform on the market and still has millions of users!, not as primary but secondary)
i mean, while on BB10, users can hack playstore and port it to their BB10, while WP and others, they cant do this at all!!
instagram should realize that they are one of the top social networking now (same goes to google+ even though im not sure if millions really use it! even though it is said that it is now the 2nd top social network, not twitter) so they need to be cross platform!!
look at the IM! whatsapp is cross platform, skype and viber and others are available to to others (exept symbian, no videocalling, but we got fring now!)
dont be so coward instagram!! im sure users will DL you on other platform!

That's because YOU WERE NOT A DEVELOPER, so you don't know what's going on behind the back.
First of all, supporting MORE platform means more $$$. You need more software engineer, you need more customer service.
Second, by having MORE platform, means slowing down the innovation of the software because EACH platform have different API and the way things work. ex. when porting from Android to BB, if there were an API that BB don't have, it need to be worked around. When this happened resource are wasted for just figuring how the BB aps should work consistent with the Android but still can bring the functionality to that apps.
Third, as I was mentioning... support. If the BB apps were crippled, in a sense that it have feature missing due to the incomparability of API, there will be a lot of BAD noise, thus needing MORE customer service.
All in all, for platform that won't be a success anyway like BB10 and WP, DEVELOPER with a great common sense will try to avoid it.

you do know that iOS, android and BB10 shares the same roots right? yeah they might have different API but still the ability of BB10 to run android apps is great, and maintance is actually not that hard!
HELLO FACEBOOK OWN THEM!!! and they have lots of $$$$$$$ and instagram is now a huge social network!! so they need to be cross platform!!!

Just because FACEBOOK have lots of $$$$, they should support BB? What kind of logic is that?
Let's face it and accept it... BB10 is TOO LATE.
If RIM have BB10 in early 2010, it can compete bellow Android.
If RIM have BB10 in early 2011, it can compete bellow Apple.
If RIM have BB10 in early 2012, it can BEAT WP7/8.
for early 2013, BB10 were toooooooooooooooo late, and just die
You really need to let it go....
it's just an OS

lol latest stats shows that WP cant overtake symbian and BlackBerry OS (the version 7). 2 OS that is considered dead....
WP isnt working!! its not as awesome as you people think it is!!a lot of people i know find it weird and annoying (the live tiles)!
symbian is current 3rd and BB is current 4th!!! and WP isnt even close!!!
the reason why i hate nokia for letting go of symbian!!
BB10 was never too late for the party!! it can catch up!!!

wow, i just saw the stock of BBRY, MSFT and NOK, i really cant believe that MSFT is that low! only 27.49 while BBRY is at 13.88 while nokia is at 3.75

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=BBRY

seems like it will be a tough competition!! so hoping that IG wont be a huge coward!!! bring your app to BB10 and WP8!!!

BB share price will be back to US$ 6 BEFORE they announce the NEXT sales figure of ONLY 4 million BB for Q4 2012.
BB will be bankrupt this year just because they were avoiding android. If they use android and focus on what they did best, they don't have to fight for instagram.
What a fool decision by BB leader.

THANK YOU. I do not understand the appeal and cult like devotion to an app that makes your photos look like sh*t.

blackberry needs to give up the fight, they are losing and the only thing that will help them now is to sell off assets and call it a day
