Instagram coming to Windows Phone says Nokia executive (update: misreported)
0. phoneArena 23 Aug 2013, 09:29 posted on
Nokia executive VP Chris Weber might have put a smile on the faces of many long-suffering Windows Phone users; during a visit to Thailand, during which he relayed Nokia's goal to overtake Samsung as the global leader in smartphone market share, Weber also said that Instagram will be coming to the Windows Phone Store...

Nokia and windows have been saying this since beginning of year, or maybe even last year lol it has been so long I can't keep track. Don't hold your breath

Even though I believe it will take another 3months

I agree.. I don't think it will come all that soon. Not that I care really but I do want it to come for the folks that have to have it. Personally I wouldn't use it with my l1020 for obvious reasons

Instagram is just one app, and certainly not the best (IMO). However, I guess other people do buy into the hype. It also goes to show that WP8 is gaining in popularity...

The reason that keeps me away from a Windows phone, besides the humongous size of its flagships, is the fact that EVERY time something goes mainstream, thus becoming essential for our digital lives, Windows Phone (either via Microsoft itself or its manufacturers, better yet, Nokia + the other 5% of the market) has to BEG and cry for it, examples: YouTube, Instagram. It's a shame though because honestly, I doubt it takes much more than 3 weeks of a team made of 20-ish programmers to develop such piece of app, and make it good enough to have little to no bugs at all on release, but no, they'd rather allocate such team to make pointless revamps/face lifts to their website (like YT did, pretty useless, but the programmers still have to feed their kids, wives, husbands, etc., right?). They underestimate WP a lot, it's a shame :(

That is what I want
apple can't get away with their high margins forever
Nokia is adopting the Samsung tactic
carpet bomb the competition and hit every possible price point but unlike Samsung... All of nokias lumias don't look the same
apple will start its slow decline... You can't lead forever with just two options. Expensive and less expensive
Nokia and Samsung have the right idea. A different smartphone for different types of people

This is silly to ask but there is more than just instagram missing. I am a happy windows phone user but something has to give. Snap Chat and Vine need to come as well. This will help with those wonderful little cameras Nokia likes to market the crap out of. I also think these camera apps should've been fought for so that they could advertise WP8 as a true camera phone with all the perks, not just a good camera with no where to put the pictures...
And an update to the ESPN hub would be nice to have a 'my teams' portal instead of having to pick through the menu... Just venting out loud.
Written on my L928.

Why use either of those when you have wonderful apps like camera pro and campro plus? Sorry I can't help you with espn hub as I don't watch or know of this app ( first app I get rid of is the espn app that seems to be a staple on both of the Lumias I've had)

Because in the United States where I live, and being a person in college, those apps are popular. Im sorry if that isn't ok with you but there is a demand for those apps, why do you think they are rated so highly on iOS and Android?? Its not to say that Nokia hasn't produced wonderful camera apps I am just saying there are others out there that need to be incorporated to attract others.
And if you don't use the ESPN app then don't comment on it there's no need to bash someone who happens to use ESPN to find sports information...like me and who has a suggestion to update it some.

Stop being so sensitive... Wow angry much? I was simply trying to help but it seems you would rather cry about it. It was a suggestion that may help you not a knock. Also there is a vine alternative on wp8 called 6sec.
13. milesboy5 (Posts: 156; Member since: 07 Nov 2012)
How was I being sensitive?? You weren't helping at all really you told me to get rid of it when all I said was it needed updated. I'll let you know when I decide to cry next to get your input and help kind sir. And I know of 6sec, but to those who don't have WP8 and there are a lot of those who don't, they don't have 6sec which defeats the purpose of downloading it.
14. papss (unregistered)
Actually there is a reason to like 6sec as it ties into vine.
Again I'm just trying to help you from one wp8 user to the next. We don't yet have vine but 6sec is a great alternative, the same developer is making or has made a true Instagram client that actually works with the true app. And no I wasn't telling you to get rid of anything but said that I couldn't help you because I get rid of espn.. Maybe read what I said again because I think you misunderstood.
16. milesboy5 (Posts: 156; Member since: 07 Nov 2012)
Thanks, didn't know that it tied into it, but earlier I was just saying its easier not to hassle with the third party apps even though that's all we got right now when it comes to Instagram, Vine, etc. And those are used more as social network than camera enhancements like the Nokia Camera Pro apps.

I completely understand that those are important apps for many users.. All I can do is suggest alternatives if they are important to you. They will come though..

Also I need to say I too came from a long line of android phones until I purchased a l920 back in nov and while there have been some things that I don't like there are so many that I love and I don't see myself going back anytime soon. I just got a l1020 and it too is an amazing phone.

Why go through all these anger, frustrations, and patient...?
Android iOS already have those.
The only great big thing about NokiaWp8 is it's Camera.

Here you go again with your bs troll... You no learn?
19. milesboy5 (Posts: 156; Member since: 07 Nov 2012)
because I like change, and to be different, without having to root my phone flash a custom rom, and have the same looking Samsung phone year after year. Or in Apples case the iPhone.

Unfortunately, Android OS is highly insecure and offers relatively poor performance for lower end devices. WP OS offers better speed and security, as well as total integration with all of Microsoft services and products.

But this doesn't mean it's better than a feature phone...

All those companies thay provide online services etc make millions/billions. They can easily make an app for windows phones they are just stupid/lazy/ignorant. A small developer can make you an app for few thousands of dollars. Lets assume these apps like vine etc need much more. Its still nothing compared to how much money they make or how much money they get from investors.
10. Damo579 (Posts: 205; Member since: 18 May 2013)
those apps have been announced, they will come out soon. I agree the ESPN apps need an update.

6tag does video as well so same functionality, at that point, there is no need for an official one, as long as the one we got works fine, whcih it does.

Sad...considering Facebook is the most used in Latam, with the highest quantity of hours that people spend on the social network per day...It's a shame to be wasting time and giving the chance to be replaced by other platform in the whole region for sharing food's pics. xD

apparently the group photo is not taken on a lumia 1020
