Instagram and Facebook want some users to upload photo ID

0. phoneArena posted on 27 Jan 2013, 09:54

Reports are spreading about some users of Instagram and Facebook getting locked out of their accounts for ToS violations and are being asked to upload a picture of a government issued photo ID before being allowed back into their account; some IDs have not been accepted by the sites, and those users are being asked to send a copy of their birth certificate...

This is total bs why should we have to have a goverment id to use a site, my only question is if i am presented with this is there a way to just delete my account or am i stuck on there? Im not going to upload my id to facebook or twitter. just so some scumbag will hack there system and steal my id and ill be screwed.

Many a times Politicians are wanting this done to get after someone who has Leaked some nasty details or talking ill of a politician/political party. At least this is how Indian politicians are behaving against social networking sites ... they go after people who talk ill of certain politicians on social media sites.

Most likely due to the big news of the notre dame football player being scammed and multiple stories like that. Personally anyone above the age of 13 should be smart enough not to fall for these scams.

dont violate tos and you will not have to provide a goverment id or the like , its bs that you want to argue about what they ask for if you cant follow their own rules... its their site, you do not have to use it ... create your own damn site

This is sooooo dumb its on a whole other level. What if you accidentally go on another website by accident that imitates Facebook and it asks for your personal info like this. Lets say its Facebok.com... The user will think its legit without checking the URL and BAM. Easiest identity theft EVER.

.........

.....be right back. *leaves to go make Facebok.com*

I think that this is just stupid!! I see no reason as to why they need photo ID to verify that the account actually belongs to the person logging in. You've got to love how "free" our country is.

in case you had not noticed, the people of our country are all too willing to give up our freedoms. it's much easier to let "big brother" protect us from each other and decide what we can and can not do.
