FLIR, or Forward-Looking Infrared, is used by military personnel to "see" in the dark without having to don those bulky night-vision goggles; at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) expo in Washington D.C., a company aptly named FLIR showed off a protoype of a commercial product for the Apple iPhone...

I think you have identified the intent of the article - to get hits.

nothing in the article states that the iPhone might be getting an IR sensor built in, which the title implies...

of course it wouldn't be built into the phone.

but, the second paragraph explains how the technology would be pretty expensive. as well as needing to be turned down a bit to be offered as a product in the iphone...

So the question asking "...coming to the iphone?"

the title doesn't have to say "attachment" its not misleading at all... its not a big deal.

you guys don't take a day off on these apple articles huh? lol smh...

The title is misleading because in gives the impression that all iPhones will have this. On top of that, the article states it's actually not coming to the consumer market because of the cost. So the answer to the title would be "No".

I read the article three times just to make sure my comment made sense.

It's not a big deal, but wording it the way he did in conjunction with the next iPhone being launched in just a few weeks lead me to believe that an IR camera was rumored to be incorporated in some way.

This has some practical use in the public safety sector. To the average consumer this probably wouldn't sell even if it was $200.

If the screen will still be bright, what's so great about IR nightvision? just turn on the flashlight and the results will be the same, unless you're on a surveillance mission, then they would need this attachment with some more MPs and zoom too...
