Seriously. This just looks plain rude to me as an Indian... reflects a stereotypical view of a first world person towards India, which is horribly wrong.
C'mon, you don't see thousands of people walking on road barefooted and with a white beard with a smartphone in hand. Please change the image.

I'm not Indian nor part of some PC brigade, but I honestly agree that the photo is a biased view of Indian people. Absolutely unnecessary. And I bet most people would be offended if in a article about American users the author posted a pic of a fat, stupid looking redneck carrying a smartphone in his jeans arround. Sided with a gun.

This is the usual mindset of people who live in a CAVE. Ignore is the best abuse for guys who dervie pleasure and try to display sense of superiority through these insults. They are armchair critics with no knowledge of what India was or is .... they see through eyes of corrupt "Human Watch/Rights" Church funded organizations which are best examples of organizations with double standards where no one spoke when Churchill Gassed the KURDS but half the world went after "Chemical Ali" on some grounds of fictitoius WMD in Iraq.

No no, there's no religious issue or such. Just that the whole aura the image throws, is nowhere near to current India.

Canvas series changed the whole image of smartphones for Indian people. There are no carrier subsidies here and I don't want to spend more than $400 on phone. For my every concern there is an Indian brand for me.

Indian brands have improved their quality many times over past year.

Micromax offers the flagship phones with decent specs earliest. Their phones are reliable with good balance of battery life, camera, price. Also we get software updates.

Karbonn's build quality is fantastic. Their Titanium S5 looks and feel much better than Sammy's galaxy S3, while costing only 1/3rd of it. And it comes with snapdragon 200, not too bad.

Xolo keeps venturing into extreme stuff. They were the first to offer Intel powered smartphone. They have a separate X series for Intel, Q series for quad core ARM powered phones, and B series for high capacity battery phones and A series as well.

I hope to see good future for local manufacturers.

Oh no guys.. This is not INDIA.. dont use this picture to depict India.. India is lot better than this.. You could have put picture of any Indian cricketing legend with mobile (hint: Sachin Tendulkar) or any movie star (hint: Amitabh Bacchan/ Shahrukh Khan) with mobile to represent India..

Growth is relative to the population. Thus, the US market will stall when a large majority of the population has smartphones. China and India have yet to reach those levels so having growth in the 60's is not unheard of.
