In stereo: Xperia Z2 S-Force Front Surround speakers vs HTC One BoomSound

0. phoneArena 27 Feb 2014, 02:04 posted on

The same tune was loaded on both phones, and the sound played through the stereo speakers at maximum volume. Granted, the show floor there is quite noisy, but a difference in strength and quality is still audible, so check out the video below to learn which handset excelled...

This test is absolute RUBBISH!

1/ the camera used has a very crap microphone which has TERRIBLE frequency range, completely misses any low-end sounds... so you would NEVER capture what you would hear with your ears using this awful microphone

2/ most of you are using your PHONES to see how it sounds! How idiotic is that... you cannot judge the quality of other equipment playing back on a phone loudspeaker. You HAVE to use a very good hifi or headphones to judge.

@Daniel P, if you used a professional external microphone, the test would be valid, IF listened to on full-range output.

BESIDES all this, the HTC One tested is the old one!!! So WTF is the point?

Z2 is much clearer with better mid to high tones, I think the Z2 wins here, but need to listen to it in real life to judge.
Anyway, pretty funny accent there Daniel. :D

Yeah, I was surprised at how good the Z2 sounded, and it is waterproof. Sony really pulled out everything for this one. Here's hoping that it comes to every carrier in the US, I know I will buy it on Sprint if it does.

Well someone better forward this article off to Peter Chou. Maybe they can do a last minute bump in the M8 speaker output. Don't let Sony steal your Boomsound thunder HTC.

But also how is it that HTC didn't patent the dual front facing speakers? Because if Apple had thought of it there would be a dozen patents protecting the design.....rectangular phone with matching bezel sizes with rounded corners....gah...stupid Apple...

Xperia Z2 sounded loud and clear, HTC One sounded louder but a bit crackling. Both phones have awesome speakers, but the Z2 wins this speaker comparison.

Btw, PA took this video from a Malaysian tech site called Soyacincau and didn't even put a source link to it, not even mention who tested this. Really PA? xD

I am sure Sony tested the Z2's sound outout against the HTC One before its release and if it were louder then they would have made a big deal of it. Don't get me wrong the Z2 is very very tempting, but design wise - its a brick

Neither of them sounds very good. The frequency range is too limited. And the crappy music did not help the situation. Probably the best speakers I ever heard on a phone was BlackBerry 9000. They were loud, stereo with one on each side and a bass port slot on the top.

it did louder coming from the Z2 but personally I think before people start running there mouth, and talking crap, I say wait until the 2014 model of the HTC one comes out and then let's compare against the 2014 experia z2, because as of 2013 the original ONE got all OEMs beat.... ALL, in fact I won't even compare any Xperia from 2013 to the ONE
