This is great news. We should all try to do more for charity.
Anyone who bad mouths sj go to hell and u will most likely be modded anyway. We all have regrets.

yeah i completely i agree with you thats why i like the Gates family they donate more than anyone in the world and still are #2 for richest people.I just wish apple did something like match 100 dollars for every 1 dollar. its not like they cant do it, heck maybe they will do it
2. android_hitman posted on 11 Nov 2011, 05:53 1 3
why to be modded away? everyone has the right to free speech! why don\'t americans do charity for their own country to help clearing up the debt that is pulling down the whole world?
4. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 06:06 2 4
They will be modded for trollin an starting a flame war. Tacos has already been modded and pa is being tuff about this on both sides as they are unbaised. There is no freedom of speech on this board or else there would be no modding.
15. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:14 2 3
All freedom of speech does for you buddy is you won't go to jail for anything you say. It doesn't mean you can say whatever you want and not be modded.

biophone, there is a difference between sharing a negative opinion about SJ and the way taco acts on the boards. he was warned repeatedly and his posts were reported probably hundreds of times. His trolling was beyond a simle flame here and there.
And with that said, SJ was an a-hole. That is my opinion of him. I still dont like apple as a company and never will, but at least Cook seems to be taking it into a slightly nicer position. I still dont have any hope for them to clean up their human rights violations in china as Cook was reportedly the mastermind of the foxconn deals and probably knew about all that was going on. A small step is still a step though.

You act the same way!
42. remixfa posted on 11 Nov 2011, 11:29 1 0
yes, but generally only when provoked. some act that way as a general way of life.
47. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 14:42 0 0
You don't know the guy in a private light just public how can you call him an a-hole from his public perception jeeze.
48. remixfa posted on 11 Nov 2011, 15:50 1 0
because the people in his private life think the same.. his biography even paints him as an a-hole, bio. He runs a company in a way that it treats its partners like a-holes. he stole from his employees... he tries to bury any and all competition. He doesnt care how cheaply his products are made, who dies, or how crappy they get treated. he makes nothing but a-hole statements about anything that isnt an apple product. he-is-an-a-hole.

It's good that Apple is now doing some charitable works after Steve Jobs. Steve is really a douchebag. Apple has been overpricing their devices and they should really give the favor back to the consumers.
6. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 06:25 1 8
Here we go!
"Steve is really a douchebag. Apple has been overpricing their devices"
Ps its steve money he can do what he wants and you dont have to buy the overpriced products.

We all have regrets and im sure steve regreted not donating more money however its his money. How much of your money have you donated? Your the one calling people names and trying to start a flame war so who is the real douchebag and i doubt you have donated a large portion of your money so by your standards your a douce and hypocrite. Its childish of you to pass judgement on people based on how much money they donate and its very shallow.
10. Trainer posted on 11 Nov 2011, 07:40 7 1
@Biophone your post is the definition of hypocritical and childish.
Jobs was an innovator but not a great humanitarian. Grow up and accept it.
I run my own charity, an animal rescue. Now, call me a hypocrite.
17. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:25 1 4
I am not saying he was a great humanitarian but does that make him a douchebag. If we consider everyone who isn't a great humanitarian a douchebag then the world is just mostly douchebags .
Hmmm maybe you should read before commenting first.
36. Dmann posted on 11 Nov 2011, 10:12 2 1
Did you read his biography?
I did and guess what. He WAS a DOUCHE!
Very smart and unique one, but still.
One more thing. It is not only his money. Apple is a company. He was the CEO and stockholder.
11. arcq12 posted on 11 Nov 2011, 07:41 4 1
i dont donate money because i'm not like steve who has tons of money which came from ripping people off by overpricing their devices. i donate through volunteering in charitable activities.
and not because i'm telling the truth, means that i'm starting a flame war. truth hurts, isnt it?
and i'm not judging steve based on his donations, i'm judging him because of his statements. he's saying that donating to charitable activities is like 'giving money away' which he obviously means its like 'wasting money'. your just not getting the point. it just shows how much space your brain has left.
and seriously, i really do feel sorry for guys like you being a Steve Jobs' desciple, you guys are really forgetting what's right and wrong.
14. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:12 2 3
Your totally missing the point. I am not saying he shouldn't of donated money he should of it would of been a great thing. What I am saying is that doesn't make him a d-bag or what ever your trying to con strew him as. Most likely the giving money away was taken out of context and PA didn't give a source of him ever saying that. You can't judge someone because you really don't know why they did what they did. You can't get in his head. He might of volunteered or have done something else which was more meaningful to him. I would respect him more for that then giving away money that is meaningless to him. People also try and get into rich people's pockets and judge them based on that which is really wrong.
19. arcq12 posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:34 4 3
accept it dude. what ever you say, jobs is still a douchebag. he could've said he is investing on something that's why he wasnt able to donate despite of his huge profits instead of saying donating is a waste of money. you should realize that.
24. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:42 3 4
You don't know why he didn't donate a line out of context means nothing. You can't judge someone based of something you don't know. What if you found out tomorrow he donated all his money to charity in his will? There are many reasons he might not of donated and your are making statements out of your ass.
33. arcq12 posted on 11 Nov 2011, 09:08 2 1
what if? seriously? you're really funny. if jobs have donated in the past, we would've known it. and PLEASE, stop that 'Jobs donating all his money in his will' type of sh*t. you know that's not gonna happen and thats a statement from your ass.
he is a douchebag. PERIOD.
12. rendHELL posted on 11 Nov 2011, 07:47 2 0

Bill Gates has already given 34 billions in charities. Steve's whole earnings are about 7 billions. steve was not a good person. he was the product of illegitimate sex.
18. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:27 1 3
You getting modded :). So everyone who is the product of illegitimate sex is not a great person. Your such a idiot. I don't care for bill gates because all that money he gives doesn't hurt him at all. He is making no sacrifices. Rather him volunteer sacrifice time.
20. arcq12 posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:37 2 1
do you think donating $2.6 million in 2 months will hurt steve jobs? i dont think so..
23. biophone posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:38 1 2
No it wouldn't. When did I say it would? I am more impressed if he volunteered donating 2.6 mil doesn't impress me. There is no sacrifice.
28. arcq12 posted on 11 Nov 2011, 08:54 1 0
coz you're saying that Gates didn't get hurt donating 32 billion.
and why wouldnt he if he could? mr. cook did it flawlessly and will continue doing so. let's just say they are just sharing their blessings.
and i dont think mr. cook is donating to impress someone, it's just human nature.

32. remixfa posted on 11 Nov 2011, 09:07 5 3
alright, dude.. get of the modded kick. just because someone says something u dont like, doesnt mean they are going to be modded.. this isnt kindergarten. PA is trying to reduce the huge amount of trollin and flame wars on the site. I guess it was finally bad for business. That doesnt mean people cant express their opinions though.
Its called "be respectful of each other" while giving your opinion, not acting like a mega jerk like taco.
Bio.. i dont understand your point about gates.. so he gets no brownie points for giving away BILLIONS to people around the world because he is so rich it "doesnt hurt him"?? that makes no sense.. especially in the light of the argument about the billionaire SJ not giving away a single penny because he thought it was a waste of money.
He is making a huge sacrifice. He gave up his company to start a charity to help people around the world in need. What better sacrifice is there?? If that doesnt earn him a halo, what will?? He is giving away the majority of his fortune that he worked his butt off for, to try to help people better themselves.. he is buying equipment for schools in under served areas... he is directly helping people.
What has SJ ever done to help anyone? He has the deaths of dozens of Chinese slave workers on his shoulders. He was a selfish, bitter man till the very end. Even his own biography makes that point.
34. arcq12 posted on 11 Nov 2011, 09:10 2 1
well said remixfa.
43. gallitoking posted on 11 Nov 2011, 11:39 2 0
so you can be a jerk all your life.. but if you donate all your fortunate at the end ... that gets you a halo?.... you dont buy your way into heaven... nobody does.... we are judge based on all or our lifes... Gates is a cool man.. but cant speak for him since I dont know how he became that rich..
44. gallitoking posted on 11 Nov 2011, 11:46 1 0
about 2 decades ago there was a drug lord named Caro Quintero.. that wanted to pay Mexico debt as he was soo rich... build schools, but he is doing life in prison...for drug traffiking... did he earn his Halo? remix... also the colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar is another example.... another very charitable man.
50. remixfa posted on 11 Nov 2011, 15:55 2 1
sooo.. Quintero killed people that got in his way. Steve Jobs treated his own workers so bad they would rather commit suicide than work there.
Quintero got rich on the backs of addicts that would buy his junk no matter how good it was. SJ got rich on the backs of addicts that would buy his junk no matter how good or bad it was.
quintero took some of his money and gave it back to his local community which helped improve some people's lives. Steve jobs said giving away a penny was a waist of money.
Wow.. who looks worse right now??
Im sure quintero was a much much worse person out side of this simple comparison, but the point is SJ was no angel.
Also, your tangent makes no sense what so ever because we are talking about bill gates and steve jobs... not some columbian drug lords. Something tells me they are not the same.
49. remixfa posted on 11 Nov 2011, 15:51 2 1
bill gates wasnt known for being a jerk, gallito.. steve jobs was. Bill Gates from all accounts was supposed to be pretty easy to talk to. Gates and jobs are exact opposites.

Apple deserves credit for starting up a charitable campaign regardless of its history. Bill and Melinda Gates deserve credit for their generosity because it was a good thing to do, not because it could make someone else look bad.
41. Whateverman posted on 11 Nov 2011, 11:28 1 1
SJ was a jerk! I like the direction Tim Cook is taking the company and NO, I'm not getting modded for saying so. Apple is finally giving back, that's all everyone is saying. That's a good thing, but you can't ignore the fact that SJ was a horrible a horrible person.
45. gallitoking posted on 11 Nov 2011, 13:14 1 0
what I dont understand.. with most people ..we finally have good news about Apple.. and they still bring Jobs.. he is no longer behind Apple... let him rest in Peace.. let it go.. move on... Apple is under Tim Cook..lets leave it at that Fandroids...

51. RussellL posted on 13 Nov 2011, 13:21 0 0
Apple's charity program is a scam.
The purpose of a match is to give a dollar-to-dollar increase to the charities. Apple is not doing that.
If you read the whole article, you'll see that Apple's $1.3m match is not going to any charities. It's going to be used to internally promote the program. They are paying themselves, if you will.
"The $1.3 million matched so far is being used by Apple to internally promote the program and solicit more donations."
The employees could have donated directly to the charities and the charities would have received the same amount they are receiving with Apple's
program. Instead, Apple gets good PR for what their employees are doing without having to donate anything.
