In India, Micromax unveils a budget beating 6-inch phablet and an entry-level 4.7-inch phone
On Friday, the Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 was introduced by the Indian smartphone manufacturer. However, priced at the equivalent of $149, the phablet doesn't offer mouth watering specs. Consider that the 6-inch screen on the unit carries a resolution of 540 x 960 (qHD), although it does offer Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6582M SoC, which features a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU and a Mali-400 MP2 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of native storage. In the likely event that you need more memory, a 32GB capacity microSD slot is available.

The Canvas Doodle 4 features an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP snapper adorns the front. The phablet offers 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and comes with dual SIM slots. A 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on and Android 5.0 is pre-installed. Offered in white only, the Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 is expected to be available from Indian retailers soon.

Meanwhile, the entry-level Micromax Unite 3 was also unveiled today, priced at the equivalent of $110 USD. The handset is equipped with a 4.7-inch 480 x 800 resolution, and the unit is powered by the same MediaTek MT6582M chipset that is employed on the Canvas Doodle 4. It also features 1GB of RAM, 8GB of native storage and a 32GB capacity microSD slot. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 8MP and 2MP respectively, and a 2000mAh battery keeps the lights on. Android 5.0 is pre-installed. One cool feature allows you to translate phrases with a simple swipe.

We expect that this model will also be available at Indian retailers soon.
